Next week there is a possibility of spending a week in Niagara. Other than the falls which I have only seen from the Canadian side, and plan to mosey around the US side this trip, what else is there to see/do in and around that area.
Good restaraunts etc?

Mighty Taco...... yummy!
Schwabl's for a "Beef on Weck" sandwich is a must.
Make sure you stop at Anchor Bar for original Buffalo Wings too.
I was born in Niagara Falls, and grew up in the Buffalo area. I miss it.
The the Bills are playing the Raiders on the 21st if you are there on Sunday.
Also, highly recommend. Corning Museum of Glass

I grew up an hour east of Buffalo just outside of Rochester, NY. I often drove to Buffalo to eat at Anchor Bar (original Buffalo wings) or you can go to Duff's (much less atmosphere than Anchor Bar) for some good wings. Take a drive down Rt18 heading east as it parallels Lake Ontario, has many beaches you can visit. If you want to drive to Toronto which is maybe 2 hours away, you can visit the CN Tower, Science Museum or walk down Young Street after dark for some entertainment. The kids may like a day at the amusement park, it was called Darien Lake back in my day and may be Six Flags now. It is located in Darien.

I have lived in Buffalo my entire life and there are a number of things to do depending on what your interests are. Although we get a bad rap at times there are an unlimited number of things to do within an hour of the city. Let me know what your interested in doing and I'll be sure to help you get started.

From art galleries, food, and drink to waterfront activites there are many things to do. If you plan on driving up to Toronto it is less than 2 hours away. Rochester is around an hour.

A few comments on the links above:

Lockport locks are really neat to visit and there also the redeveloped terminus to the canal that they are working on downtown. Currently it the the nicest thing on our waterfront. There is also a tour/dinner/party cruise that makes a few trips a day out of my marina and goes around the harbor.

The carrousel museum is pretty neat from what I hear. I have never been there but it is on the erie canal, or a few minutes from it, right where it flows into the Niagara River. There are some places to eat on the canal/river which are pretty nice.

The naval park is a really neat place and a part of the canal terminus site being developed. If you like boats and history this is a must see. It is next to my marina, right downtown buffalo, and next to the "Miss Buffalo" which is the cruise/party boat. There is also an upscale restaurant all within walking distance.

This is another that will give you the boat ride of your life into the falls rapids and whirlpool. You can also check out the Niaraga Power Project while you are there and see the history of how they make power. The jet boats are around $40 per person and the power vista tour is free.

Thanks for all the links and ideas. I was in Niagara Falls for a week. Visited "Anchor Bar" for some Buffalo Wings, took in the Jet Boat ride and wandered around the bottom of the American Falls. Very cool. Also mosied over to Lockport.
