Weehoo!

I'm not to sure I follow. Will this compete with other mono hulls or is this only to practice until Groupama 3 is ready?

Notice where the helms are. An adrenalin rush for sure.

Putting photos from manufacturers directly in message board posts is common practice. After all it amounts to free advertising for the manufacturer. However, posting photos from other message boards or photo sharing sites is another matter. They may not feel such a need for promotion, and, more to point, these posts will burden the bandwidth for their hosting server. Which is why a lot of photo hosting sites have the warning "not for putting images on auction sites". Simply providing the URL instead results in less bandwidth issues for them. Example:

http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/attach...cup-90sail3.jpg

As then the server is not hit up to supply that image every time somebody happens to enter the thread. So as a courtesy to such sites only the URL should be posted. I do not say this out of theory, this is a conversation I have had with the Admin at YachtForums.

That is an amazing boat.

When you look at its attitude when it's flying a hull it appears the bow(s) of the boat are running lower than the stern(s). IMHO that would not be as beneficial for speed than having the bows riding a little higher than the sterns. The way it is set up it looks like the bow of the hull that is in the water could dig into a wave and cause the boat to pitch pole. That happens when a hull (monohull boat or multi-hull) digs into a wave. It dives down into the water and the stern of the boat can come up and over. The usual end result is the boat ends up with the mast pointing straight down. I did that once on my Hobie 16. It's an exciting few seconds but if I never did it again that would be too soon.

Here's a great pic of a catamaran caught in the middle of pitch poling.

Awesome stuff. (I didn't look at the shot of the big tri above Kelly.)

GFC, I've had the same response in seeing photos of hi-perf multihulls running a bit bow-down. (I also have experience pitch poling a Hobie 16s and similar Venture 15s!) FWIW, on the Supercat17 (now sold as the ARC-17) we own, there is no splash rail nor flat top on the hulls and the preferred (faster) attitude is letting the leeward bow run deep. On some of the pitch pole video I've seen, I can hardly believe how quickly they cartwheel. Like they've hit some giant underwater trip wire!

Nice looking boat Skibrain. Yeah, when you pitch pole it really catapults you off the tramp. Kinda reminds me of what it looks like when a dog is charging at you and reaches the end of his chain. laugh laugh
