Very easy to break tempered glass, all it takes is the point of a screw to touch it, a little flex in the frame and BAM! It's possible one of Chap's assemblers located a screw a little too close to the edge of the glass panel and the flex brought them into contact.

I'm still wondering why you are not questioning as to why the glass shattered in the first place.

Tpenfield, Thanks for your concern. This is the Bimini mount which is mounted to the windshield frame about 1' from the end. I think that the combination of going through the wakes (both sets of 4' wakes comming at opposite angles) allowed the bimini to flop back and forth and in combination of the induced twist caused the window to break. Its also possible that the passanger could have hit the window with his elbow but he can't remember cause he was just hangin on (not a real big boat person)I have checked the frame for sharp spots or screws but from what I see its clear. I'm going to make a hardboard templete from the cardboard and recheck clearances prior to having a new window made. I am taking pictures of the process and will post all of them when I'm finished.

The portion of the river where this happened has a current of 5 mph and walls on both sides of th river that bounce the waves back out into the river. I normally stay away from this area because it gets real bad due to big boat traffic on the holiday weekends. We needed ice and we were going to the store via the river cause the back way is to shallow since we haven't had any rain. My mistake and now I have to pay for it. I'm chaulking it up to a lesson learned.

Back in 1975, just before entering the fambly bizness full time, I was working for Budget Rent-a-car. One boring summer day I was watching traffic go by from the counter, and out of no where, FOOM!--the backlight in one of the Cordoba's just exploded into a zillion pieces! It was hot, but not in the 100's or anything. The glass guy just said "it happens"...
