Here's a thread from a while back that might be helpful: Ever been to Kauai?

My memory of the Hyatt on Kauai is it was nice, is on the dry side and has a nice beach...but that memory is getting old. Kauai is a wonderful island and was our favorite but one of the smaller ones, 2 weeks might be a long time to stay on one island. I don't know how much the island hopper planes are these days but you might consider some time on Maui or the "Big Island" of Hawaii.

Kauai "The Garden Isle" is wonderful place.

If you are into golf Kauai has some wonderful courses. The Hyatt has the "Poipu Bay Golf Course".

Things to do/see on Kauai:

Spouting Horn

Snorkel - Favorites for the time of year you are looking at are Poipu beach and the Beach House beach.

Watch a sunset from the boat harbor on the way to Spouting Horn.

From just about any beach with a pair of Binoculars watch the Humpback Whales play in the ocean. We have not taken a whale cruise on Kauai but the ones we have went on Maui were awesome.

If you want a wild boat ride look into Captain Andy's Napalli Zodiak Cruise. This is a blast, but can be very rough depending on the waves on the North Shore.

On a clear day take a drive to the top of Waimea Canyon "The Grand Canyon of the Islands".

And of course lay on the beach and bronze your hide.

There is also the Fern Grotto - I haven't been there, but hear it is a wonderful trip.

They actually to some water sports just ouside Kapaa in the river.

Places to eat:

Keoki's in Poipu.

Waimea Brewing Company in Waimea. We have had hit and miss food here, but being able to say you have had a beer in the western most brewery in the US is worth something. This one makes a nice end to the day after a trip to the top of Waimea Canyon (needs to be a clear day so you can see though).

Duke's Canoe Club in Lihue. Downstairs in the Kauai Mariott, beach side food, sister to Keoki's

There are several beaches to lay around on and sun yourself.

Hope you have a wonderful trip. If you have additional questions let me know...

ummm... they are going on a honeymoon. I don't think they need too many distracting activities from the main activity.

We loved Maui. Stayed at the Westin on Kaanapali beach. It's a great resort and great location. Its just north of Lahaina too.

Sorry don't know much about Kauai.

What are you looking for?
If you are looking to sit on a beach with blue water, go to Cancun. Better beaches, cheaper and it's closer. If you get an all inclusive package, they just keep sending you free tropical drinks on beaches that are unmatched.

I went to Maui (8 hour flight) and was disappointed at the beaches. So we ditched the beach idea and went on several tours. We spent a lot of money .

If you go to Hawaii, try the tour where you bike ride down a mountain. We coasted for 4 hours. Awesome view with great memories. We still talk about that. However, in Maui, they recently banned that. Too many people were getting killed.

Go to Kaui.. enjoy the beaches, enjoy the weather, enjoy the scenery, don't miss a single sunset, all in the comfort of your hotel room kingsize bed... It's your Honeymoon... remember???

It'll all be over before you know it... Remember this.. the Hawaiians work off of Hawaiian time.. Not mainlander time.. so.. take it easy. You're on vacation, more importantly your Honeymoon!!!!!..

The first week you'll be all stressed out, hurrying everywhere. It's what you're used to.. the second week... you'll wonder why you're going back...who cares what you see. You're on your Honeymoon...

If you make plans to see something and you mess up the plans and don't get to see something... oh well...You'll find other things to do. You're on your Honeymoon.....

Stay off Oahu this trip.. unless you want to see tall buildings, traffic, shopping, noise, tourist traps everywhere, and tons of people. Instead of enjoying your Honeymoon.....

Enjoy Kaui. It's what Oahu and the other Islands were once. Even Kaui is built up more than ever, but who cares, You, and your wife are on your Honeymoon....

Aloha Nui Loa

The best advice I got from the above Ever been to Kauai link was to purchase this book...

We found it to be very useful and accurate.

We have been to Oahu, Maui, and the big island. We haven't been to Kauai, but if I was going to Hawaii again I would see the Arizona Memorial one more time. There are some things that are unique about Hawaii and that is one of them. We were staying on Maui and flew over for the day and drove around, going to the beach and shopping a little as well. Daily inter-island commuter tickets were reasonably priced.

We also (twice) took a helicopter tour over a volcano, to see waterfalls, look at whales, etc. That was fun. The ones we took gave you a video of your trip after you got back.

Lots to do in Hawaii. There are attraction guidebooks (free) with discount ticket ads in the airports. (At least in Oahu and Maui) If you are into activities, they are worth checking out.

We found a very nice condo thru vrbo.com and plan on booking it today. Meet with a travel agent on Saturday - they got to be nuts - price was $2k higher than i could book myself online.

Thanks for the great ideas keep them coming.

Will have the admiral look for the guide book.

You will find the "Today in Kauai" and "101 Things to do on Kauai" at the baggage claim area (along with several other freebie guide books).
