Update to the saga.... My house did NOT cool down over the weekend. In fact, the air was muggier and stuffier than it was outside. So I called this clown back and he said he would NOT come back without charging me another $49.95 service call ON TOP of any work he would need to do, if anything.
So I called another company. This guy was a bit older, and walked me step by step on what he was doing, showed me where the gauges should be reading... After cleaning the condenser fins real good, checking the unit in the attic, and reading the temps at the registers in EVERY ROOM (which the other company never did), he found I was still close to 3 pounds short on freon!!!! He told me how much it was going to cost and after some thought, I told him to go ahead. Once he added more, we went back and read the temps and they were substantially lower. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! Initial readings were from 68 to 75 and afterwards, temps were from 53 to 58!!!!
I immediately called the credit card company and told them to NOT pay the charge to the first guy... I'm still waiting to hear from him, as I left a message with his wife... RIPOFF JERKS!!!
