Carrier Kitty Hawk heading for Bremerton
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

BREMERTON, Wash. -- The Navy says the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk is leaving San Diego and will arrive Tuesday at Bremerton where it will be decommissioned in January.

The 47-year-old ship is the Navy's last carrier powered by diesel fuel. For the past 10 years it was stationed at Yokosuka, Japan. It arrived in San Diego this summer.

The Navy says the Kitty Hawk, which had a crew of 2,800, will have a crew of about 400 in Bremerton to work on decommissioning.

I take that as a "no"... Be cool if it could float by within view of the coast,so we could see it. Even if you had to use Binoc's

See what happens when the board is down for 4 days? I didn't even know the Kitty Hawk was leaving.

my brother Paul was in town for a few days, he was on the KittyHawk as a pilot when he was in the Navy, and we stood there on the dock of the Bay looking at his old house for a couple hours last Thursday,
he was sad that it looked so lifeless and was just a short number of days away from sitting down forever

Man.. I have some good and bad memories on that boat. I was on one of the last cruises before they retired her.
