I have said it before, any demand for a fully push-button convertible top on a runabout?

nice to have, but no way would it be a priority for me. if we're fantasizing about buttons, how about one for cleaning the whole boat?

looks very car-like (obviously). can you stand under there or only sit on the seats when the top is up?

Looks like that boat you're going to restore. Classic lines from the 50's and 60's. Got any pictures that show the big picture (whole boat)? In line with the option pricing, they'd want $20k for the push button.

No. Looks hideous. Way to ruin the looks of a nice looking boat.

Not interested. But, having destroyed my bimini by backing it into a shed roof yesterday, I would appreciate a "Hey stupid, put me down!!" alarm with my next bimini.

Interesting find seabuddy. Down here in the sunbelt you couldn't give that away. But I would think there is a place for it up north? Certainly more stylish than a pilothouse, likely cheaper to buy as well? IMHO this was a nice try. However the side windows need to be fuller, not the usual taper down to the deck. And that color for the cloth doesn't work.

Elaborate tops are a hit with yacht launches. But those are VIP shuttles, not really for family watersports.

The term Teats On A Boar comes to mind.

What about egress? Any problem with that issue?

The back of the top appears to just rest on the deck cover, probably a couple of latches holding it in place. Looks like it could be folded up from the back if need be...

Maybe if it was a white top on a white boat...? As it is, it looks as out of place as a doorknob on a coffin...

You want to cover the whole sunpad otherwise water will get in.

An automatic bimini would be more useful. I have seen one on pantoons.

It makes for a nice cockpit cover... no snaps. However, it's not a bimini replacement.

I agree with everyone that it may not be a best seller, but it would be nice to get back to the dock and push a button to have the boat covered.

I take these comments as a resounding "NO" vote. Not surprising. Companies have tried to make cars that look a lot like boats and they've never gone over well. Even down to adding "headlights" to cars and calling them docking lights. I still see idiots running at night with their "headlights" on.

IMHO the two (cars vs boats) are distinctly different in styling characteristics and should remain that way.

Nope; not practicle. A bimini is the way to go, not a convertible top.

And, GFC, Docking lights are practical if one knows how and when to use them. I agree that running down the lake with them on is stupid; that's why they're called docking lights!

I'd be envious if I were caught in a rain storm and the guy next to me had one, but I personally would rather have a camper canvas. Bet the isinglass on that top wouldn't last three seasons. I also would have added windsheild wipers to that boat to complete the sedan look.

I am looking at doing something like this when I restore my old Newman, but more of a classic look and manually operated. However, it is my intent to use it as a way to run a cooling system in the front cab and maybe a heater for real cold days. That can make a difference is how you would perceive this type of cover. As a way to protect against weather, it would be better than a bimini, but I would not want it as just a cover for docking. Of course, being powered, you could have a remote operator to allow getting in and out.

I think it would be great if it covered more of the boat, fit better and was only intended as a mooring cover. But as it looks now, looks hideous!

I would say no on a recreational boat.

However it might be better used on a work boat, where you need to get out in all kinds of weather.

As this is a prototype, if swimplatform loading (rear) and bigger side windows were designed in, would it be good?
