Last week my wife took spilled some gas from a portable gas can in the back of her Wrangler. Wasnt a whole lot and she was able get to it quickly but a smell of gasoline remains.
Anyone know of any tips or tricks to clean/remove the smell?

I assume it is on the standard auto carpeting? I'd try some isopropyl alcohol dumped on it, then sponge it up. Do this a few times and it should dilute the spill and get most of it out.

You can cover the spill area with coffee grounds, baking soda, or soak the area with ispropyl alcohol. You will have to do this several times. Be sure to remove the backing/padding under the carpet and do the same to that. It may take a month or more to completely eradicate the smell. And there is a chance it will still be present in the vehicle, as the odors have been absorbed by now in the headliner and other fabric areas. You can try and treat that with Fabreeze.
Best way, is to replace the carpet and padding with new.

that's funny!
on the same theme, my brother always burned popcorn after smoking weed in the house because the burnt popcorn smell would cover the other smell. my folks could never understand why an otherwise bright kid kept making the same mistake with the popcorn.

Be careful "dumping" alcohol in your car, given time it can attack certain plastics and paint. My suggestion would be to dampen a towel in a diluted solution of Simple Green (it should break down the residual petroleum distillates in the carpet), blot the area real good, then repeat with towel dampened with only water, then finally blot as dry as possible with a dry towel. Once dry, get a can of 'carpet fresh' and a box or two of baking soda, mix 'em together and pile it on over the spill area. Next day, vacuum it all up.
If it still stinks after that, you might try the skunk idea!

cap'n - lol! had we known about ozium back then we still would have gone the popcorn route as an air freshener or order eliminator would have been suspicious.

White vinegar cider, .. soak a rag in it until it drips, and place on the gas spot. Allow to soak overnite, then remove rag. Take a hair dryer to dry completely. The vinegar odor will last about 3-4 days but will slowly dissipate. White vinegar will not stain but cider vinegar may... if the vinegar odor remains after 4 days, put some baking soda on it. Guaranteed, odor will be gone in a total of 7 days.
Ozium? Whatever happened to strawberry incense? Or Pachuli (sp?) Oil?

If it is a jeep the carpet should come out. I would then take it out and wash it with soap and pressure wash it. Let it dry and put it back in. I have done that with our jeep several times.
