I saw that the tall ships came into San Diego bay last night, so I thought I'd make a trip down there to take a few photos.
This event happens once every three years; we are the last stop on the Pacific coast tour for the 15 Tall Ships.
News article here. Sort of hoped I would catch a few of them under sail, so I stopped at the Shelter Island ramp area first. No luck there, but took a few pix I thought might interest a few of you.
This guy was making good time, note the North Island base helos behind him. It was a clearer day than is usual in the summer, this was a really long telephoto shot.
