What is your time from start to finish? Backing up, placing boat in water, pulling empty trailer out, parking, walking back to boat with blower on?

Not to signal you out but people that have cute admirals holding a dock line while the captain does it all is irrating when the line at the ramp is waiting for you. Now having an admiral that helps out during the whole process is HOT.

I gotta disagree with you, On Holiday. He never said his wife was cute! grin

Sure sounds like she knows her way around a blower though wink

I find it funny that most who insist this job should not be done alone, seem to have an angry tone to their posts about being held up and frustrated.

It's typically the same at the ramp. I do it all myself and am in and out quicker than the couples and/or groups who are useally spending most or their time yelling at each other.

HF...not trying to sound "angry mad"...but in some of the ramps we launch at the parking lot is a few hundred yards away. If you leave a boat tied up at the dock for the time you drive the TV to the lot and the walk back another boat could be completely launched. Someone should at least be able to idol out in the no-wake zone to keep the launch free.

I have to be honest I am a one man show. First, our ramp is big enough that if I am at the courtesy dock it won't keep 5 other boats from launching at the same time. I am completely prepped before backing down and I scoot to the parking lot and back.

Our boating style also has us there at non-peak times when the ramp is a little quieter.

The ones that bug me are the ones that have multiple people yet they still can't prep before they back to the waters edge.

The reality is that I am considerate of others, but it is my lake also and I have the right to use it. With the first mate walking around I wouldnt't feel comfortable with the admiral having to worry about driving the boat and making sure the first mate doesn't walk overboard.

We all have our own way I guess.

We prep the boat first. I back the truck into the water to the point were I can still step onto the trailer then into the boat. She backs the truck the rest of the way into the water as I start the boat. After I pull the boat off the trailer the admiral pulls the truck up into one of the parking spots about 200 feet up. I then pick her up at the dock. From the time that the wheels touch the water to the time that she pulls up is about 3 minutes.

SB...I agree with you 100%. We have a toddler as well that is quite fast at this point. So we head to the ramps at less than peak time.

With our toddler it takes us more time to get ready as well. The lake has a prep lane before you get to the ramp to get everything in order. Since junior likes to slow our progress down, if someone is behind us, I let them know they can jump in front when they are ready. I have also had many people ask if they can jump in front too and that is alright too. I try not to get excited if someone is in front as we are just going down to the cove and tossing the anchor overboard to enjoy a day of swimming. I do get excited if someone is floating in the water with the engine cover off and prohibits the use of the ramp.

Typically I don't ask. If I'm ready and the guy in front of me isn't I go launch and I'm usually done before they get around to backing down the ramp. It only takes about 2 minutes to back down the ramp, launch the boat and pull off the ramp.

This past weekend, the Admiral decided, herself, no prodding from me, that on all 3 occasions that Lowrider left the water (to fuel up), she would take the trailer to the ramp, instead of the boat, and meet me there.

All 3 times she did a very fine job of backing in, with zero assistance from me (beat me there twice). Nobody was arround to make her nervous. I rounded the corner into the cove to see her Blazer waiting for me, feet from the water's edge, trailer already submerged behind it.

Last time, she had a ramp-ful and was in line when I roared into the cove. She again did a nice job while I BS'd with a friend in another Taylor SS ignoring her.

Kudos to her. :-)

Between my wife and myself there are Four possibilites:
1.I do it all.
2.She does it all.
3.She waters and I wheel.
4.I water and she wheels.
The kids fight over who turns on the blower and ties off.
The four possibilites depends on kids, what time my wife gets off of work and other extrainious circumstances. We are well cross trained day and night. My wife is apprehensive about backing the trailer down the ramp without the boat on in the dark though, but then she puts it on the trailer.
