I need to locate a replacement hatch screen for the Bomar hatch on the foredeck of my Four Winns. The screen we have currently is all torn up from the previous owner. I'll be putting a call back out to Bomar tomorrow to get all the model #'s and info, I lost the paper that I had it all written down on. I faintly remember about $70 as a price I was quoted for it. Sounds like a lot to me, but than again it is a BOAT.

Have you got the round low profile hatch or has Four Winns finally gone to a square one?

Is the hatch screen the one without a frame, but with elastic around the edge, and 3 snaps?

Here's the only picture I have of the hatch right now.

The screen doesn't have a frame, its round and elastic. There are three spots that hold it in place, I really wouldn't call them snaps though. Three small 1" lips that it goes on top of to seal it up.

cattailspa if you see this, does my boat have the same hatch as your three? Have you had to replace your screens?

When I checked with FW directly a few months back, they did not show that part listed, only the replacement handles and lift support.

A distributor Bomar put me in contact with before could get it for $70.

Someone out there though must have had to order a replacement screen.

My neighbors ordered one from the local dealer, it was for a Lewmar hatch though. I would check with the dealer, He called FW for a door latch, they had no part number, called the dealer, and he had it in 3 days. The dealers do not necessarily order from FW direct on hardware and accessories.

No I never had to order one yet. You have the same as what my 268 had. I would think your dealer should be able to help you.

Fortunately, that screen looks a bit different than the one that I had in my 268 (or the one I think the Cap'n has). I think Bowmar re-designed the hatch after the 2001 model year or there-abouts.

If you had the screen that snapped on with three snaps and elastic, I'd recommend simply throwing that one away - and I am sure the Cap'n would agree with me on that. What a real PITA.

I have purchased replacement parts for my Bomar hatch for my current boat from this website:

http://www.pompanette.com/pompweb.nsf/a0...aa?OpenDocument

I dunno if this is your hatch or not:

http://www.pompanette.com/pompweb.nsf/73...af?OpenDocument

But if so, here are the trim rings and screens:

http://www.pompanette.com/pompweb.nsf/73...14?OpenDocument

You should call or email Bomar with your hatch part number (it should be tagged on the hatch somewhere), and see if they can provide the screen. It looks though that your hatch might be an N1115, N1139, or N1170 (they seem to be the only round ones listed). If so, on one of the trim-ring pages, it lists trim rings for those hatches - maybe you got to buy the trim ring to get the screen???

They make too many darned types of hatches...

I got one for the Lewmar 2 years ago from our FW dealer, it wasn't anywhere new $70 though. It is the elastic one with the 3 snaps.

Yep, same one we have. And Al is correct, what a PITA to install. The admiral is more patient putting up the screen than I am, otherwise it would probably have been destroyed by now. We only use it once or twice a season anyway, since the cabin door has a screen that lets plenty of air in, and no bugs.

$70 doesnt surprise me. I have that identical hatch on my Crownline. The plastic handle used to tighten the lifter is cracked and I need to buy a whole new lifter arm in order to remedy a small piece!!!

Could you construct one yourself? That material should be available at any fabric store. While you wouldnt necessarily retain the rigid ring, it could easily be secured with velcro or perhaps a few small snaps.
