Perhaps its my A.D.D style of watching television but is anyone else thoroughly confused by the Olympics coverage?

Everytime I have tuned in, it seems like nothing more than a deluge of commercials with a small scattering of sporting events thrown in. I cant tell if Iam watching something live, recorded, etc.

Our Dish Network supposedly has two or three channels dedicated to coverage but the only thing they seem to broadcast are replays of soccer.

I was somewhat disgusted with the coverage myself. They bounce around, alot. I don't see how you can have one channel dedicated to this many games. I gave up and am watching the LLWS.
DirectTV does the 8-channel news station where you can go between them all. They should have something like that for the Olympics, so you can choose and watch all of an event.

There are no commercials if you watch with with a DVR.

My only disappointment is that they seem to be concentrating on the same events. I haven't seen any of the wrestling or boxing (do they still have that?) or softball or judo, or badmitton, or shooting, or any number of others.

But I've seen enough swimming, and gymnastics and beach volleyball to last the next four years.

i think this year's coverage has been great

NBC has a few different stations and one seems to concentrate on boxing, and then the more 'prime time' one concentrates on the usual favorites

but do you look in the Sports section of your newspaper at how many events are going on? there is NO way any TV station could show them all smirk

if you watch and/or record, you are absolutely going to see a huge assortment of them all, you can catch it for more then half of each 24 hour period

yesterday afternoon i concentrated on the skull racing - 1 person, 2 person, and team;

you need to watch 24 hours a day and with a sporting green in one hand and a coffee in the other smile
this morning i was watching speed cycling, which is an amazing sport although i don't quite understand the way they operate as teams

a 43 year old guy gold-medaled the Speed cycling, he was from argentina i think, Bravo!!

DVR is the way to go.

We were out of town this past weekend and didn't have DVR, so had to sit thru 2.5 hrs of the womens marathon waiting for the swim event. Didn't want to tune away and miss it.

But at home, I record the prime time telecasts and the late night telecasts on 3 different channels. I like watching all the sports you don't useally see, but only a bit of them. Then I fast forward thru.

They sure don't give much info as to what will be shown in the 4hr segments.

Two events I'm hoping to catch, if I didn't already miss them, is closed track cycling and whitewater kayak. Oh, and the triathlon & pentathlon.

I think the coverage has been great (other than the occaisional inane interview). I have DirecTV and they have a an interactive upcoming programming menu using the red button on the remote.

Boxing has been on quite a bit, just not on the main broadcast NBC channel. The menu says boxing will be on CNBC at 5pm tonight. Other channels to check are MSNBC, USA and OXYGEN.

Olympic lowight was the Andrea Joyce interview of Alicia Sacramone after the U.S. won the team women's gymnastics silver to the underage Chinese team. It was rude and painful to watch. I enjoy gymnastics, but gymnastics and other judge reliant sports can get frustrating to watch sometimes though.

Highlights are almost too many to name. Phelp's butterfly, Lesak's men's swim relay comeback are just a few of both men's and women's swim highlights, Shawn Johnson in women's gymnastics...what a powerhouse packed into that short frame and great attitude, Women's soccer, Men's 400m hurdle USA sweep (very disappointed both top world contenders in the 110m highs withdrew or dnf in the prelims), Men's 100m...even w/ the uneccessary showboating...Usaim Bolt is flat amazing to watch. I'm looking forward to the 200m finals. Women's marathon...the winner and the the tight race for silver and bronze. I've really enjoyed all the volleyball as well...indoor and beach.

Tivo is a must however...if not for it I would've only seen a small fraction of what I've watched.

Have you tried watching it over the internet? nbcolympics.com is pretty cool and they allow you to watch up to 4 events at one time.

IMO DirecTV is a must have for this Olympics. It took my 4 days to realize they even had this. The red button doesn't work on the main NBC channel, luckily I stumbled across it and I'm taping tons of coverage among my 3 DVR boxes.
