Here's a shot in the lock of the turbulence that's created when they fill the lock...
As we got to the top of the lift, this tug and barge was waiting to go in.
I had taken several other pics but something happened to the memory chip in the camera and they were lost. Sunday the temp got up to 105. We met our friends around 10:30 and spent much of the day swimming and staying in the shade. We came downstream through the lock today at 12:30 and had a very uneventful trip.

We were out on Mark Twain Lake on Saturday. The sun was out all day, temp in the lower 80s, absolutely perfect. Had a blast pulling wife and friends on the tube and even pulled my friend up on a slalom ski a couple times.

We were at Lake Shelbyville this weekend. All day saturday and all day sunday. Used up 25 gallons of fuel. The admiral finally had the courage to drive the suv with the trailer and even attemted to back it down the ramp. I was really proud of her.
Glad to hear so many of you got out to enjoy boating over the weekend and yesterday. I wonder if seabuddy got out on the water? Al should be chiming in with his stories too, as it was a beautiful weekend for boating in west michigan, and it sounds like all over the US too. Great stuff everybody !

The boating was great in Canada too! We didn't make it out on Saturday, but Sunday was perfect conditions. We spent a few hours tubing with the boys, then anchored off in an out-of the-way hideout for an hour or two of swimming off the boat. The lake was the busiest that I have seen it all summer. It was a great ending to my summer holidays, which were mostly rained out. 2 weeks on the Atlantic coast (Newfoundland), and I couldn't get out fishing once due to fog, rain and a rotten on-shore breeze for the whole trip!

LL - West Marine has a sale on the vests once or twice a year. I don't remember what we paid, but it wasn't terrible. They come in a set io 4 in a big blue and yellow square bag that says "Life Jackets" on it. we actually used the bag when we traveled last year and packed some kiddie stuff in it (like a plastic booster chair that comes apart). we got several questioning looks when it came off the airport luggage carousel.

Wife looks at husband and asks, "you did remember to bring our life jackets on the plane, right dear?"

Thanks for the info. I have noticed fender packages at West Marine, but never noticed life vest packages – guess I wasn’t looking hard enough
