That happened in supai, its and indian reservation at the west end of the canyon. It's the prettiest place in the world. Helicopter horse or a 8 mile hike the only way in and out, happens every so often. As far as our water issue, Lake powell has recovered allot this year and they are saying following a wet winter and the wettest monsoon season in a long time is helping but this pattern needs to continue with another wet winter.

its not actually the Colorado river there just a off shoot but its a deep canyon and all the water for miles heads in there. Worked there during college assisting in drug and alcohol training in the early eighties and was evacuated ourselves due to flooding. There is no high ground except straight up.
