Fay is threatening, doesn't look like it will be much more than a day long pain in the rear though. Hopefully our Tampa Bay hurricane detractor will work once again!

Thanks Kenny, we will be fine, unless the boat is floating in the garage that is. Our house is about a half mile from the north end of Tampa Bay, so if a storm pushes water up into the bay we could have issues. I don't think this one is going to be strong enough to push that much water up even if it gets to us. We have 11'1" of elevation to play with.

Take some photos if you can safely and share them with us...

I'll take some tornado photos in exchange.

But the inside of a 'fraidy hole ain't much to look at...

I've been watching this for the past few days.
Yesterday it had landfall near my home but now it is farther west.

Its still not very strong, may get to Cat I. I'm not too worried !

We have some regular summer storms that could hold their own with a Cat 1, they just don't last as long, I'm not too worried either.

Latest track shows more to the west as you said, that worries me a bit more, the more it gets into the Gulf the better chance it has to strengthen, then I worry about it hooking right kind of like Charley did to the south of us a few years back.

PH - If there is anything to see I will try to get some pictures, but I will leave the real daredevil stuff to the pros' (idiots) that work for the news stations!

Looks like Tampa will get a little wet & have some decent gusts (50 mph?) from Fay.
Nothing major – probably no worse than a constant summer storm (CMJ thumb )

Florida has been OK since Charley, Frances, Jean & Ivan in ’04.
No complaining btw – I will take the occasional excitement in exchange for January boating.

Here are pics from Hurricane Frances in 2004 – nothing recent - but you only have to mention pictures once for me to post....
Frances was a tropical storm by the time she arrived in Tampa.

They tried to stay up for it (and the power loss) – no luck.

Our backyard & neighbor’s tree.

Walking around our block after the storm.
Kinda eerie seeing the trees/limbs down & the houses boarded up.

We lost power for ~6days.
No AC, fans or hot water (actually the cool showers were welcome d )
Some of our friends/coworkers couldn’t believe we didn’t go to a hotel – but we did fine.

Old pics, but better content than this one will produce wink

It went east of us, no problem at all here, didn't even get harldy any rain. But, now they are saying it could hit the Atlantic and turn around and come back toward us!

For anyone interested in local coverage of the current Hurricane Ike, I just discovered DirecTV added a channel 361 which is KHOU...evidently a local Houston station providing non-stop coverage of the storm.

Other cable/sat systems may have similar if you check your channels.

Showing Coast Guard helicopter rescue video via winch and basket. GC has rescued 16 people so far...and have over 150 calls for rescue as a backlog...and the storm is still 12 hours from true landfall. I guess there was an unexpectedly early storm surge that was quite large stranding some who intended to leave.
