Ok, here goes my post on my Spring/Summer job of refinishing my deck. We bought and moved into this house in Feburary 08, I knew the deck was in bad shape....

Little did I know how bad this deck really was....

I wished I had more before pictures, but I was to involved with the rebuilding and not the documenting....

I put in close to 150 to 200 hours of labor, but I saved a ton of money!

I used about $100 of new screws and tried to re-screw in every board. I added some side supports in some of the areas and re-attached the bottom floor joices....

I than had to use 3 or 4 gallons of stain stripper, than the cleaner and than the beautifer.... What a project, a hugh time killer, but I am real pleased in the finished look....

We had about 40 people for my sons 18 birthday party, everyone loved the deck....

Now the bad thing is keeping it clean! We get a dirty rain and it spots, we have a neighborhood cat, walks in the mub a leaves foot prints, if you look real close you can see his prints in the pics..... GRRRRRRRR

Did you seal with a good sealer?

As for the cat... gotta BB gun? hehe! (no offense to cat lovers!)

Looks good... great job!

Thanks everyone....

I used Benjamin Moore simi transparent redwood color....

I wanted to use Super Deck but they only had the clear, I thought since my deck was so damaged, that the clear would show all the bad spots and grooves that the stain stripper did not get....

And No, one big huge desk re-do is enough for one summer, thanks for asking!

I would not turn it down so fast. Ad98 has plenty of cash. He won the lottery a few years back...so I am sure he will pay you a handsome some.

Great job! I had my own company during college and for a bit after cleaning and refinishing decks. We made a pretty penny as it's not a fun job and there are many people very eager to pay someone else to do it.
