Due to popular demand (one request) here are some photos from waterways around Sydney and other parts of Australia:

This is Cowan Creek where i do most boating: salt water and opens to the ocean downstream. All located in a national park.

Below is a photo of a beautiful waterway about 2.5hrs drive North of Sydney in an area known as Port Stephens. Again a saltwater waterway, plenty of dolphins and so on, and just a beautiful spot:

These next photos are of the Whitsunday Islands which are at the bottom end of the great barrier reef. A fantastic spot (one of my favs) and unreal place to lose yourself on a boat. Lots of diving , snorkelling and national park to! Also you may recognise it as the area where the movie "fools Gold" was filmed (not in the keys as they claim they are in the movie!)

View from one of the islands - "Daydream Island"

Looking from the Beach at Hamilton Island:

Looking over the Hamilton Island Marina:

And one of my favourites, Whitehaven Beach, frequently in the top ten in the world. Lots of turtles and dolphins/coral here.

Hope you all enjoy, Next time i'm out and about i will grab more pickies of the boating areas around Sydney. It is cold here (about 65F) being mid winter so have not been on the boat much!

Thank you very, very much. They allow power boats in the National Parks down under? Here it needs to be called a "National Recreation Area" and the environuts keep trying to keep power boats out because they are run by the National Park Service. That last picture is really nice and the one with the umbrella and chairs is classic.

This is why I like the internet and this website. We all get to see other parts of the world and their boating life. Nice shots!

Please always keep us posted with what's going on Down Under.

Now I'm in the mood for an umbrella drink.

Gorgeous place/pics. I want to go there sometime for a winter vacation. The second and third pics makes me think of the recent movie Rogue. Filmed on location in Katherine Gorge, Northern Territory, Australia. Good movie and it showcase your beautiful landscapes.

Cheers everyone, There are some great places in Oz, as there are in the states (I love yosemite.. and the keys!)

In Australia we have the National Parks and Wildlife Service. Some of the parks (like Kuringai) have private residences in them, but only big no no is dogs, and often the parks aren't accessible after dark. The downside is it means for 2 of the main ramps in my area you have to pay the park entry charge to get in (abou 7 - 12 dollars AUD for the day). Best way to get aroudn this is to pay $115AUD for the 2 year entry permit (it covers the boat trailer to). I'm in the park most weekends bush walking or boating so it more than pays itself off!

I have not been to Katehrine yet...but it is on my list. This country is massive and sparsely populated (we have about the same land area as the US, yet only 20 million ppl...versus your 350 odd)

More photos to come. I will try get some from work, i can see the whales migrating today! Have a great view from Manly up the coast of sydney, just a shame i work at a waste water plant! (joys of working in construction)

I remember many many moons ago while working in Central Queensland a fe of us used to charter helicopters for the weekend and fly out to the Whitsundays to snare a lady or two for the night, oh and party too. George Harrison of The Beatles had a house on Hamilton Island.

Thanks for posting the pics of the Hawkesbury area and the Whitsundays. Brings back a lot of memories.
I went to high school in Coffs Harbor. Still have family there.

You won't make too many frieds around here with statements like that. w Be careful, you might have to turn on the heater. grin

For many on the board 65 in the winter is balmy. For some on the board, 65 in the summer is balmy.

PS. You have some stunning places to hang out. It seems in the state, we are being forced out of the beautiful places we have.
