If I were a single man, that would be my kind of boat.

In that price point, I really like the Wellcraft, always been a Wellcraft fan though.
Aquasport used to be on a favored list until I spent some offshore time on one. Decent riding hull, but a bit bumpy and wet.
I have no opinion on Robalo, except they used to make a twin door transom which I thought was pretty neat.

Wellcraft is one of the very few saltwater brands to make to our ant hill in the desert. So we do get to see one once in a while. No dealer for them here for the last several years however.

I'd have thought Robalo was higher enough in status to generate at least of few murmurs of protest about this comparison. Guess not.

The only non-Whaler my family ever had while I was growing up was a Wellcraft V-20 cuddy. Classic boat. But I'd take the Robalo among the three listed.

I can't get it out of my mind that Robalo is owned (designed and built?) by the same outfit as Chaparral ...

Attractive designs, but other saltwater brand names resonate better for me.

Good point about the Chaparral ownership. The name Robalo for me recalls those classic designs from the '70's, but they've been through a few ownerships changes in the meanwhile. And yet I like the looks of the newer models -- Robalo would remain my choice, at least among these three.

Are Wellcraft and Aquasport still independently owned?

Nope, both Aquasport and Wellcraft are under the Genmar Corp. In fact Aquasport, Hydra-Sports, and Wellcraft were all built on the same site in Florida. Seabuddy can correct me if I got that wrong. Sad to say, Genmar pulled the plug on the Aquasport brand, now building only Hydra-Sports and Wellcraft.

Let's see, the major fishy brands that are still independent would be Angler, Edgewater, Grady-White, Intrepid, Key West, Parker, Regulator, Sailfish, Scout, and Sea Hunt. Of course there are many, many smaller builders who are independent.

Or something like that,
Kelly
