Water looked calm so I opened her up WOT for about 2 minutes. After I slowed down, I looked at my spedo and it was half filled w/ water. Water was then streaming down the back of the console to my feet. Headed back to the ramp. Pulled the instrument cluster off at home in the driveway. Water found a path that did not cause any damage but the spedo was water logged. It's a Faria spedo that has a custom four winns logo on it. I'm guessing I can get one from the dealer and pay out the nose or get one from ebay (but it would not look the same). I have half a mind to let this dry out and put it back in and plug up the spedo tube. If I do plug up the spedo tube, where should I plug it and how?
Or does anyone have suggestions on where to get another spedo gauge?

Nice timing Scott, Thanks for the great link. My Faria volt meter failed yesterday. Thought for sure my alternator died, but my trusty Fluke 87 DVM said otherwise. Glad I had it in my on board tool kit.

Melnic - how did water come all the way up through to your dash? Wierd.

Scott L - First instrument grouping is the best. The middle one looks too much like a "smiley" face and the bottom one just doesn't do justice to your dash shape.

How do you guys think it would look using the layout like in the first photo, but with two 3 1/2 inch Monster Gauges in the spots for the Speedo and Tach on top flanked on each side with two of the smaller gauges?

Just got back from Cub scout camp.
Doesn't this cheap speedo work on air/water pressure? I thought the tube runs back to the outdrive. But if you say unplug the tubve from the spedo, water pressure does not build and the water comes out. I think the spedo sprung a leak. Cheap way to do MPH and when it fails, water can come up.
There are no electrical connections to the spedo other than the bulb.

I just looked at the Faria website and they say it is taking 3-4 weeks to respond to warranty claims. Anyone know how I should plug this tube till then?

If the tube was was still attached and the speedo itself was filled with water, it's seal has been broken.

If you lift up the Pitot Tube at the stern, very little water pressue will flow upward, it any. A small Ziptie should work to cinch off the end of the tube.
