Brett Favre's journey from retirement and back has finally ended -- in New York. The Green Bay Packers reached an agreement Wednesday night to trade their three-time MVP and Super Bowl-winning quarterback to the New York Jets, ending an emotionally grinding month of indecision over Favre's future.

"Favre traded to Jets. "

rofl

The only way he could have tarnished his career more, would have been to get traded to Detroit. Dumb move, but at least the "circus" is finally over.

He flip flops more than most politicians. "I'm going to retire. Wait, no I want to play. Actually, I'm going to retire. Oh, camp is open, I want to play again."

These sports guys really need to take a course in decision making. Brett, MJ and all the others out there please go to Effective Decision Making Strategies

i've lived in ny my whole life (well, i lived in nj for a short time but pls don't tell anyone) and i've resigned myself to seeing my teams (knicks, mets, jets, rangers) win their respective championships only once in my lifetime. it makes it mor special that way. the rangers finally came thru so i'm not expecting great things from mr. farv (that's how his name is pronounced, so that's how i'm spelling it). switching to the perennial local winners (yankees, giants, islanders - although not recently) is just not an option.

Don't look now, Bruce, but the Giants and Jets are both in New Jersey...grin

flb - not for long. a new stadium will soon replace shea stadium and at least the jets will be back in ny (or at least that's what i've bene told). the sad part is that when the devils win championships, they parade the stanley cup around the meadowlands parking lot. gotta admit, that's pretty lame. then again, that's what you get for naming the team after a state rather than a city. wonder what do they do when the patriots win. do they take their trophy through every town in new england?

cap'n - there are actually some very nice parts of the state (and some really ugly, industrial parts as well). no meadows where the meadowlands are though. i think they built in on swamp land. nj does have the cheapest gas in the metro ny area and it's pumped for you since it's illegal to have self service stations in nj (go figure).

Sorry Bruce, but the Jets will be playing at the new Giants stadium, which is set to open in 2010. They also have moved their practice factility from Long Island to NJ. They have officially cut all ties with the Island....

Yeah, I was gonna say...meadows in NJ yes, near Meadowlands Sports Complex...I don't think so. Gotta go west a good ways...there you will find some very nice outdoor areas...quite a few black bears in New Jersey as a matter of fact.

I delayed posting b/c I looked at the stadium on some map sites and was surprised to see the large green areas around it. But on closer inspection it looks like Bruce is spot on...looks to be built in a swamp!

I'm glad this saga is over as well. I was never much of a Favre fan anyway, never seen a guy lauded so much who makes so many HUGE mistakes at important times. For the last couple of years I actually thought the Packers would be a better team w/ Rodgers as QB. We'll see this year unless having "We want Brett" chanted by "fans" during your practice sessions got to his head. Since there are few teams I care less about than the Jets it'll be fun to watch the Favre highlights this year...both the good and the bad...I'm sure there will be plenty of both.

I do respect Favre for his incredible record of consecutive starts. I could even tolerate him not knowing if he wanted to come back the last few years, as I'm sure one feels very beat up at his age at the end of seasons, but retiring and putting your team and fans through this years circus was ridiculous. The topper is how he laments not feeling "wanted"...no kidding!

now you guys ruined my day. if they're gonna stay in nj, they should rename the team. i vote for "garden state turn coats" but they'd need bigger jerseys. hope the new giants stadium has a really nice parking lot for parades.

I kind of agree with you. They (Giants and Jets) want to keep the New York name, but did not want to pay the price of building a stadium in the city... Can't have the best of both worlds. Now both teams will practice and play in NJ.

Now the our Buc's have a starter with a bad attitude toward the front office because they were trying to bring Farve here, could get interesting.

Jeff Garcia wasn't exactly happy before. He didn't get the starts in his contract & lost millions last year, if I recall? That along with coach Gruden being forever indecisive on QBs & only happy if he has six to choose from.... this fiasco didn’t help.

Worse for me - Favre went to the AFC East, now one of the best QBs ever is competing in the same division as my favorite AFC team (Pats) rolleyes

Maybe he will flop this year and wish he stayed retired grin

I wouldn't worry too much LL. I actually think last year was an anomoly for Brett Favre's performance. If things aren't going perfectly, you'll see him play like the Favre of 2005 and 2006. Might have a high completion percentage, but he'll force throws and get intercepted a lot.

In my opinion, the ONLY things the Packers did wrong were to make him choose before the draft, (They needed him to do that two years ago, when he drug it out past the draft, and they drafted a QB!) and believing him at that press conference. The Packers could have let him take until after the draft, cause they didn't need to draft another QB in the higher rounds. I knew at that press conference that he would come back. Anyone professional athlete that actually says "I know I can still play" is going to play. That whole thing was as forced and phony as any politician's "promise you everything" speech.
