Hello everyone! Im glad to have found this site. SOOOOO much knowledge here. Anyway, I have a 1995 Starcraft 1810lx. This boat has been well taken care of and runs like a dream. However, my tach reads 1000 rpms even when the motor is off. Is there a way to callibrate it? My speedo says 52mph at around 4200 rpm. That sounds about right according to the owners manual. Im open to your thoughts. This is only my second boating season so Im still pretty green about this stuff. Thanks

The back of the tach should have a switch to enable it to be used for 4, 6 or 8 cylinder engines. Make sure it is set to the right place. Some tachs also have a lever that adjusts where the needle points when the engine is off and this may have gotten moved. Short of those things you should make sure the grounds and bonding strap,( metal strip that all the grounds bond to) are clean and tight. Bad grounds can cause all kinds of strange symptoms.
