Finally dropped below $4 by us. $3.99 at 11:15 CST, aboots 35 miles Sw of Chicago.

"I think" I saw a thread where FR had stated that Utah was paying the higest prices in the US. Not so. Most of Chi-town was over $5.15 ....dunno as of today.

I "heard" on the radidio, that a few stations in Aurora Illinois, had dropped below $3.94 early last week. I can't personally vouch for that, Maybe "Bankonit" can?

Also today, someone said the US was running out of gas again. Up about $4. Come ON now! Get a life! Said it before...I'lll say it again....Q4 or Q1. (And I did originally state Q3 or Q4 of this year....ooops! Bush won't be out of office yet. c)

I ask one thing, actually two. Do a simple Google search on any of the Bush names. Please include the words "war" and/or "oil". Then buckle yer seatbelts......

Oh, and do a quicky search on "cheney" and "american citizens" and "aipac"
Might make you want to KEEP your firearms at hand!

P.S. And Obama never had intentions of removing everyones firearms as was posted at this board. He didn't when he was a tiny little politician here either. Who came up with that one?

$3.81 here today.

It would be nice if candidates didn't have to answer to their parties.

We're still at 4.15 for Shell/Mobil/Chevron 81 Octane, but I did see an Arco AM/PM at $4.099 yesterday.

81 octane? What the heck is in that? Nothing is below 89 here.

Running hot spark plugs out there Nu2? It's like trying to ignite a wet match. Dang Arnold!

$3.69 here.

I hear it's 3.4X in Wichita, which is < 2 hours away.

Kansas City area is a joke right now. Ever sense that storage fire, it's been the most expensive part of the state. It used to be the cheapest. In Lawrence, when is 30 miles away from Olathe or Shawnee, it's generally at LEAST $0.15 cheaper if not $0.20. And that's only 30 miles!

Bones, Morris has it in the $3.8X's. Diesel drops by a more than a quarter there also. Aurora/Naperville is still in the $3.99+ depending on the station.

Believe me, I've noticed, and it's not even all of KC - just Johnson County as far as I can tell. We drove over to Belton a few weeks ago (just across the line into Missouri) and it was $0.15 cheaper. Now, I'm all for the free markets as you know, and you'll find no bigger defender of big oil. But something is NOT right with that picture.

To the stations' credit in Peoria, the price of oil went up $4 yesterday and the prices at the pump hadn't gone up when I went to work this morning.
What's the oil price doing today?

So, if the price of gas was the same price at all gas stations, do you think there would be a huge outcry for price fixing?

Mark, the Kansas gas stations in the KC area used to be $0.05 cheaper than lawrence, a good 10-15 cents cheaper than my hometown in SE Kansas. Now, the KC stations are more expensive than my home town. There was a storage tank that caught on fire a couple of months ago. Prices spiked then and never came down to "normal" range.

Well, somebody will complain no matter what happens. But for at least 30 years before this big run-up in oil prices, the biggest variance in the KC metro area was never more than 2-3 cents from lowest to highest. Now we're seeing variances of 15-20 cents, and it just doesn't make sense to me. I have a hard time believing that tank fire, which was June 3rd, is still having that much impact on prices - and only the ones on the Kansas side of the line.

Diesel was $4.31 d and Regular was $3.81 in Morris yesterday when we filled up. Was $4.59 to $44.79 around here for diesel and still $3.99+ for regular.

Funny thing is $0.10 used to be a 10% swing, now it takes $0.40 to be a 10% swing.

Most of the stations I saw this weekend, were 3.529 and above. I filled up in Joplin at 3.439. One thing that is nice about my new car is that I can go about 500 miles between fills. In my shoes, that is a big advantage over smaller cars that may get a better average fuel mileage.

I love it how people are ecstatic to pay $3.71 a gallon for gas these days.

Oil price fell back down to $121 today. Wonder how long it'll take the gas price to drop that $.16 it went up on Friday?

Regular unleaded at most places is around $4.13. Diesel is still up around $4.79.

I nailed some diesel at $4.42 yesterday on the way back from Big Bear Lake. The station by my house is at $4.80 and it was %5.60 two weeks ago. So what gives? I want to believe in markets but it sure seems like we're being F'd with. There's no fundementals behind this, just like housing and tech before it, it is only speculation and the bubble's bursting there now too.

Still waiting. The lowest gas got was $3.69. Now oil is lower than it's been in months, and it's still $3.79. So where's that carpet analogy now Mutt? Like I said, they sure do jump the price to cover their "replacement" cost when that future cost goes up a little, but they don't lower it at the same rate and the past 2 days in Peoria proves my point. The gas station owners are doing just fine in all this.
