Our favorite lake, Mark Twain lake in NE Missouri just got hammered. The lake had nearly recovered from the spring floods and nearly all the ramps were open again. At least until last Thursday. Check this out:
Yes, go ahead and ship some that water out west. where is one of those faces for rain dancin... I'll use this one

Yup, the wife and I were there back on July 6th and the water was high then. I can't imagine what it looks like right now. Luckily for us our schedules are keeping us out of the water for a couple weeks, so the level at MT won't bother me too much. But, it still has to drop, this is ridiculous.
With all the lake levels in MO, this was a bad year for us to buy a boat.

I've been to Mark Twain a time or two crappie fishin' in the past. Nice lake.
Is MT crowded with pleasure boats? I've always thought if it as a fishin' lake. Maybe it has changed some in the past 5-10 yrs?
While still known for it's fishing, it's turned into more of a family lake. Lots of pontoons and runabouts alongside the fisherfolks.
The east end of the lake is pretty crowded (to me) on the weekend, but the west end stays pretty empty.
Last time we were there we pulled into the cove at Indian Point campground there were three other Cobalt 250's there, all identical - white with red boot stripe. It looked like a gang had moved in, pretty funny.
By order of the United States Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District, Mark Twain Lake will close to all boating traffic. The closure will be put in effect 7/30/2008 and will remain until further notice
There is just a SICK amount of water in this lake. The flood gates are open but it's still going up.
I guess I know what it must have been like on Table Rock this spring.

Wow, with us living in Illinois and my sister and BIL now living near Kansas City, we were thinking about towing our travel trailer to Mark Twain and they were going to tow their boat for us all to get together for Labor Day. Hopefully it will be back down by then.
Some of the lakes around here are still really high and has made boating less enjoyable. The ramp in the campground where we have a seasonal campsite has been closed since early June, water is still up 14' and the beaches have been closed since Memorial Day.
Wow, You guys have a hole different set of issues.
We're wondering if the ramp will be closed because it isn't long enough and if we should navigate at night lest we hit an unmarked object on lakes such as Mead.

Hopefully it'll be down my then. Anything under 623' and most of the ramps should be open. There are some high water ramps available above that, but the one that I checked out didn't do much for me - I'm a little cautious.
For reference, normal pool is 606'. Today the lake is 640'. Previous record during the '93 flood was 637'.

Shelbyville. Normal pool is around 599 and I just checked at it's still at 613. Probably going to be heading back up as we got quite a bit of rain last night and this morning that I think also hit down there.
Clinton has been high but not excessive. Haven't been there in several weeks so I don't know where the level is currently.

Any recommendations for camp grounds around Mark Twain that I can park a 25' camper and have full hook up, at least water and electric for Labor Day? I looked the online reservation site for the state park and it showed all sites with hookups being booked.
Back on Mark Twain this past weekend. Water is only about 8' above normal pool now, starting to clear up but still muddy, virtually no debris in the water.
