Last year we arrived around 10:30 and our site was available. I plan to do the same again this year.

We have Verizon and I was able to call some of the guys up there while on the water near the resort but they didn't answer the phone. FWIW.

Cat- I think I still have the directions.
GripB- either I or Cattails can email you directions to the lake. The directions are good and have mileage down to the tenth of a mile. I topped the boat off at home as there are not many gas stations between home and the resort. This goes for grocery stores as well. We forgot eggs last year and we didn't want to buy them at the resort for a premium. Instead we ate pancakes for 2 mornings in a row.

On Holiday,

Cattailspa e-mailed me the directions and yes they are quite specific...shouldn't be hard to find. Thanks for the tip on the gas stations and grocery stores

If I'm reading the resort map correctly, it looks like the Oak Park Cottage that we rented is one street over from you and Waywego's camp sites (we rented cottage #7).

Do you guys normally rent a slip? If so, how far is the marina from where we're staying?

We will not be renting a slip as I personally think it costs way too much and we don't mind doing the ramp thing. As far as the distance to the marina/ cattait's boat, we walked it last year and it wasn't too bad but it isn't a short distance either. It may have taken 15-20 minutes to walk. The distance to the boat launch is about 2 baseball throws away from our campsite. We kept the boat at the campsite while there. If worse comes to worse, I may park the trailer at the site after I launch as the boat trailer parking can get packed depending on the time of day you launch your boat.

GripB, we rented a slip last year and I have not yet decided whether we will do so this year. The slips are set up to have two boats between each finger pier and it was pretty tight for two 8 1/2' wide boats. Basically, there was just enough room to put a set of fenders beteen the boats and not much more.

Since we decided at the lake to rent a slip, we got one that shared the dock with the transient slip for the restaurant. There was a lot of traffic going in/out of the adjoining slip, and not all the drivers were entirely sober. Noone put a scratch on our boat, but I did worry about it and am not sure I want to go through that again.

Two years ago, we moored our boat offshore a nearby campsite, and that worked fine. We were camping within site of the boat, so I was comfortable with the situation.

This year, our tent site is in the woods, so I won't be able to see the boat, no matter where we put it.

Are individual slips available or are all the slips set up to have two boats in them?

When speaking to my rental agent at Raystown, he mentioned that the majority of the people, who stay in the cottages we'll be staying in, moor their boats. So I'm on the fence on what I want to do. Either way, I think I'd prefer to keep it in the water.

I know, we can tie up on either side of Cattailspas' boat and he can be our security service for the weekend

All the slips are for 2 boats. I will agree they are very tight. If you guys do decide not to get a slip. I might be able to put you on our dock for Friday night till Sunday. If the weather is good. I think I might be able to put your boats in some of our friends spots. Have to make sure this works with Paul. But the sites would be very close to ours. We can keep a eye on your boats.

As far as tiring up with us GripB. You are more then welcome to come join us anytime you are up. We are mostly out on the water all the time. So when you decide to make a trip up. Give us a shot. We have our radio on channel 6 all the time.

Had to bump this back to the top.

Last night we went looking for a bigger tent in anticipation for the weekend. My 3 person dome tent is just right for 2 but now we need to go bigger because of our son.

Last year the truck was packed and this year it will be even more so with all of his stuff. I suppose I will have to pack even more creative to get everything in the truck.

All 3 of us are looking forward to the weekend. \:\)

Aint that the truth. Our children are 5 & 9 now, but it wasn't that long ago when we were "creative packing" for trips and vacations...pack-n-play, high chair/boosters, formula in coolers, etc. \:\)

Yes on the pack and play. I think the high chair will stay at home as we don't even have a high chair (yet).

Do you have one of those Sears car top carriers? They're great. It's amazing how much stuff you can get in them. Also, I pack camping supplies in rubbermaid container and then stick them in the boat. Sometimes, I even load one up with a couple nights' worth of firewood.

On the high chair thing, we used to carry around one of these in the car. Was great when you went to someone's house and they didn't have a high chair. Also great for camping, as it takes up little space.

A car top on a truck? We are looking into a soft tonneau cover so I can roll it back for larger objects and to also have it for weather protection. We do the Rubbermade stuff too.

It's summer, a bathing suit during the day, a clean shirt and shorts for evening and a smile at night is all that is needed.
