I just called the resort to reserve a cabin and did not have much luck. The only cabins available are the Maple cabins at $139 per night. The lodge was full as well. The past year has been a rough one financially for us, so it looks like we are camping.

OH, we are in the site next to you, #195. You may have a babysitter available if you and OHA want a chance to get off by yourselves ;-)

For the summer of 2009, we may want to get organized a little earlier to have a better selection of accomodations...

We should just make is a standing tradition that it is always the first weekend in August.

Waywego, you better not snore too loud or I'll come over. Last year we were on the even side of the street and noticed that the odd side received more afternoon sun. Not that it is a big deal but do you remember how hot it was last year? We brought a fan and used that in the tent and actually had to put some blankets on.

This year we will be bringing a small fridge to keep the necessary stuff cold as we went thru ice real fast last year.

We plan to keep the boat at the campsite and use ramp each day.

I like the idea of making it the first weekend in August every year!

Bringing a fan is a good idea. I think being outside was LOTS better than the pine cabins without a fan. The AC in the cabin was barely noticeable during the day -- I could not decide if it was more like a sauna or an oven.

I am not yet sure if we will get a slip again or moor the boat offshore. The slip we had was pretty tight and we were lucky not to have any damage with all the comings and goings in the neighboring slip. I am pretty sure I don't want to launch the boat each day.

I am going to lobby for bringing the dogs this time. It will mean we cannot eat at the lodge, but I think they will enjoy the trip quite a bit.

I promise not to snore too loudly if you promise not to have OHFM wake us up in the middle of the night ;\)

OHFM now sleeps through the night so we are very happy. He has been blessing us the past 3 nights with sleeping from 9PM until 6AM. I can not guarantee his schedule wont change come August.

I can not believe that they are getting full already.

So who is in charge of the campfires this year? Because this year we will make it back Sat night.

What kind of dogs do you have Waywego? Maybe Lucy would like to play with them.

I am sure we can work something out with a fire at our campsite or OH's.

As I recall, we made our reservations for 2007 in December 2006 and the cabins were pretty much sold out then. When I made our reservation this year, the person I spoke with said that they thought there might be a wedding or two going on the same weekend.

Cattailspa, my younger daughter still tells people about Lucy towing her around in the water when she grabbed Lucy's tail -- I think she will always have a sweet spot for Lucy! We have two toy poodles that would love to play with Lucy, and we are trying to buy a rottweiler puppy. If we have the puppy, we may not bring the poodles, or we may bring all three

I just talked my wife into staying an additional day and leaving Monday!

I thought about staying an extra day as well. I will play that one by ear.

We had to switch to site 182 to extend the extra day -- someone had already reserved 195 starting on Sunday afternoon.

OH, I guess you don't have to worry about my snoring now...

Quite surprising how popular the resort is!

What's everyones "guestimated" time of arrival on Friday? We can't check into our cabin until 3:00pm, but plan on arriving earlier to check everything out since it's our 1st time at Raystown.

Cool. I'm planning on being on the road by 7:00am and if all goes well we should be there no later than 10:00am. How's the cell phone coverage at/near the lake? I have Verizon.

Do you mean get to Raystown before the August BABC weekend?

Sure you need to come up for Memorial Day weekend. Or any other time over the summer.

As for cell phones Verizon does not work to good at the Resort. That is what my cell is. But my wifes cell works good. She has AT@T. Verizon works good at the other end of the lake. Like around 7-Points to the dam.

We're planning a couple of trips during the summer with our neighbors. They have a Regal bowrider and primarily boat at Raystown. They just love Raystown and are always saying how nice it is
