Doesn't seem to open up very far (maybe angle of photo?).

Kind of small opening that is partially blocked by the hardware. At least it (looks like) it has a light.

A few different ways for potential injuries by sharp metal objects, and in rough water, an elbow or shoulder to the lid will probably damage the mounting hardware (or an elbow or shoulder).

Better than not having one, but not by much...

I am not sure the hatch was open all the way. Sharp edges at sea are an issue.
