I don't know if this really applies here, but it was interesting, nonetheless. If I'm having cereal in the morning, I usually have some blueberries or mixed berries with it. Since the fresh kind are often hard to find around here, we often buy large bags of the fresh frozen berries. I typically microwave them for 30 secs to thaw them. Well, this morning, I put my bowl of frozen blueberries in the microwave. Set for 30 secs at full power. Bell dings. I open the door and there is a mosquito flying around inside the microwave! Still alive after 30 secs! bug_eyes

Remove the berries, set the microwave for another 30 secs. Open door, sucker is still flying! The magic time for mosquito deleto is, however, 1 min and 30 secs. I boiled its cells and denatured its proteins.

By the way, I left it in there for the Admiral.

I have been told on more than one occasion that I have a talent for explaining technical concepts to the "technically challenged". That is IF they have the requisite interest.

Your skill in explaining complex biological concepts to the layman is outstanding. I'd love to attempt reading one of your professional publications aimed at your peers.

Ditto. I really enjoy reading detailed explanations of subjects I know little about but am interested in on this site from Waterdog and others. I'm sometimes bummed when some topics go to PM for more detail because I enjoy reading the details. Waterdog does have a special talent for making the complex clear. Thanks to all that take the time to write detailed explanations. thumb

Well, at the end of or near the end of the world at least the cockroaches will have some company! ouch
