Hmmmm, old 55' Chris Craft? Wood Hull? Bow snapped off in 5' waves?
Sounds like it was in about the same condition as the one Seabuddy had posted the pics of that the guy was going to restore. Lots of dry rot hidden in areas below nicely finished wood could lead to that happening.

I thought of the same thing. Looked like a similar boat. That would be real scary. You know you're going down if you lose the bow of the boat. One smart thing is the guy remembered to get life jackets on immediately.
The report said the called 911. What else could they do? The boat was clearly a good distance off shore. We visited that lighthouse this summer, there's nothing around it but sand.
