I hope you are having a good boating season. Here in Maine, we have been blessed with good weather and although we need the rain, boaters are rejoicing!

We just heard some news that we think is important to pass along to you. Volvo Penta has announced an across-the-board price increase for August. The average increase will be 4.1%. This is the second price increase for Volvo Penta this year, forced by rising costs of oil and oil-based products. We expect coolant, oil, plastics, and resin items to have the greatest price increases. To avoid the increase, you will need to order soon. We will honor current pricing for all Volvo Penta orders placed prior to 3 pm EST on Thursday July 31, 2008. You should know that individual prices may rise more sharply than 4.1%, so if you know you need parts, it might be prudent to make purchases before the increase and avoid disappointment later.

You may also be pleased to know that our prop buy-back offer is still in effect. We'd be happy to hear from you if you have a prop for us. We buy pre-owned Volvo Penta and Mercruiser props (all stainless steel props and aluminum duoprops) in repairable condition and will pay $150 for each stainless prop, and $100 for each aluminum duoprop ($200 for a set) we receive. We'll even pay the shipping to get them back to us here in Maine.

No surprising at all. Plus VP has to ship a bunch of stuff from Europe too, don't they?



Shouldn't the parenthetical statement come after the word Penta, as Mercruiser doesn't make "aluminum duoprops"? They don't even make aluminum Bravo 3 propsets.

I guess I'll stock up on oil filters.

Let me know the filter number as I have several and don't use VP oil filters.
