Let me know if you find raw data Bill. Lots of numbers are easy to interrupt into different scenarios, looking at rates, volumes, differences, rates of rates, means, etc. I can't do much with the graphs besides what is already posted.

Bill keep making your predictions, the opposite has been happening. Diesel went down almost $0.25 in the last two days, gas is under $4 in some spots ($3.999). WOO HOO!!

BTW, should there really be an immediate correlation between gas/fuel and the price of oil? It doesn't just magically get poofed into fuel as soon as it reaches the surface. I am sure it has been posted before, but the retailers really make no money on the sale of gas, it is more of a volume game. Also, it touches so many hands (Refiners, wholesalers, etc) that the money made is spread thin between all. IF they didn't make any money, we would have no fuel. Why be in business to give stuff away? (No g'ment comments :))

I paid $3.86 yesterday at lunch and on the way home, same place was 3.79. But I knew it was coming so only put 20 bucks in.

Oil is down below $125.00 today.

The price of oil is a futures purchase, so the $125.00 price today is for august delivery. That's why people get so POed when it jumps cause of a price spike. It's not like that spike affects what's in the gas stations tanks today.

Put $95 in the Four Winns yesterday, and proceeded to burn it all up. 89 octane at the fuel dock was $4.50/gal. Talking to the dock attendant, they wanted to raise it to $4.55, but left it at $4.50.

Here's where that logic goes awry. Let's use another example instead of gas so we can separate the emotional arguments often surrounding big oil.I used to own a carpet mill. Just using round numbers for illustrative purposes, let's say my yarn supplier would sell me 100 tons of blue yarn for $1,000/ton. On July 1, I make 1000 square yards of beautiful blue carpet and price it for sale to my distributors at $10/sy. My gross profit at this price is $0.10/sy. I sell 500 sq yds over the next two weeks. However, my yarn supplier informs me that my next shipment of yarn scheduled for Aug 1 is going to be $1100/ton or a 10% increase. Unless my profit margin is extraordinarily high, I will have to raise the price on the existing or remaining 500 sy I already manufactured at a lower per unit cost in order to purchase the next lot of yarn. If I can purchase the next lot of yarn for a lower price, then I can lower the price of the end product a corresponding amount, but not for less than what I've already got in it. The replacement cost of inventory is what drives the current price, not what I paid for it. Make sense?

But if the following shipment the yarn goes down 10%, do you lower your prices as quickly? NO! cause we all know carpet makers are a bunch of greedy SOBs. J/K.
I understand the logic but I suspect since money never changes hands it's only a paperwork shuffle so they don't relly need the cash to buy the next tank. So they are making extra profit on something they already purchased.
