Red Sails was originally built in 1939 in downtown San Diego, and moved to it's Shelter Island location in the 1940's. It's just a few blocks from the Shelter Island launch ramp, and although I didn't have time to go boating, my wife and I decided to go there for lunch.

Very pleasant spot for boat lovers...

The view from inside the restaurant

And from the patio where we had a table

I didn't realize that Atessa have been moved, just 100 feet away from our table.

Someone told me the copter (on its own retractable helopad) is a French one that costs about 3 mil.

Nice tender too

Al, you want to tell us what all those things do?

Two nice towers

The Hatteras parked near Atessa was not a bad boat either, just dwarfed.

On the other side of the street, saw this Viking 67 some of you may like. Clean lines!

Oh yeah, it's for sale if you're interested!

The food was good too...

DAM that is a big boat. I think the tender is bigger than my boat.

Info on Attessa

She used to be docked next to the SD Bay Police station at the far north end of Shelter Island. Now she is behind the island, I assume she is having some work done as she is next to a yacht maintenance facility.

I think my flag on my 24 footer is bigger than Attessa's flag.

Great pictures and I'm amazed every time I see a harbor like this. The amount of people in this country with real money boggles the mind. This past weekend I decided to cruise into our "money" harbor and see how the other half live. I could nearly hear the owners saying what is that 30' boat doing in "our" fairway.

Here is a picture, 2nd fairway from the top. 100' slips on the North and 80' slips on the south

They say 90% of the world’s wealth is owned by 1% of the population. Since you'll find more millionaires in the US than any other country that makes very nice harbor for you guy's to watch.

Thanks for the write up & pics troop.
The Viking is my favorite.

I would be interested in a close up of Atessa’s tender.
Do you have one?
When your dinghy has radar... you are doing something right thumb

(Just thinking - does that RIB goes everywhere with the big boat or is it a local tender? It doesn't seem to "fit" Atessa.)

Thanks for making me and my boat feel miniscule, Troop. grin

I guess it is all relative. Heck, the Attessa's not even the biggest boat in this pic.

Hope to see you on the water before the summer slips away.

How do the people who tie up in the "Star shaped" slips get to shore?

Huh? Just pointing out how small the flag is compared to the ship.
