This past weekend I was too lazy to raise the outdrive a little higher and when backing the boat in, I cracked the lower half of the skeg off my Bravo 1 drive. Upon searching the net it appeared that the only fix was adding a skeg guard for around $125 or an expensive welding project.
I ended up coming across a link from
Custom Boat Repairs that made the welding piece look easy. I called a local boat repair shop and the guy said that they would weld on a new skeg, on the boat, for $100. I ended up having it done and it lokos like a new drive. The paint and finishing was factory perfect.
I didn't take any pics and put the boat back in the water. I wanted to add this in case anyone was searching for options on repairing their skeg. Getting it fixed right, and by someone else, was the cheapest and best route in this case.
