Remember $39,800 will be spent to get nothing in return. People aren't willing to risk that kind of money.
Like somebody said above, just sell the boat at the current market and buy another one.
Understood - but it is not one individual risking $39,800 and getting nothing. The individuals risk is $200. Also mentioned that there would be winners for tickets 2-9 more than the entrance fee. Add to this that raffles, (and lottery tickets), get sold all the time and most of those people don't win anything either.
Thank you Wet Doggg - not going any where - but lesson learned - next first post in a forum won't be about trying to raffle off sdomething. Hope I didn't offend anyone, again promise not to solicit anyone. I have been reading this forum for months now and only decided to jump in today (jumped right into the fire!)
I would not buy ticket for $200 unless it was the exact model we wanted. I think that is the feedback you are looking for?
Now don't disappear...stick around and participate on other threads.
Ding, Ding, Ding, I bet most dealers don't have 200 people in a year very interested in the same exact same boat. This is going to be your issue, there just isn't the demand to sell enough tickets to make it worth your while.
Now if somehow you could say raffle off a night with Jessica Biel and gave the boat for free I think you'd sell out in an hour.

Too much trouble. The link to the laws above specifically says commercial businesses and individuals are not eligible to conduct raffles. You would have to be a charity, religious group, firefighter/police org., etc.
The fact that traderdave has continued to repsond makes this as legitimate as anything. The spammers make that one first post and are never seen again.
Anyway, the price point would be too high anyway. If I buy a $5 raffle ticket, I realize I'm probably not going to win, but it's just a good excuse to give money to the charity. I forget about the raffle 10 minutes after I've bought my ticket.
Thanks for the feedback. My concern is where I live, (on Long Island) the housing market has pretty much dried up, and it is happenning to the boat market as well. Years ago there were bidding wars with people trying to buy a house, and today people have to continue to cut their price and they still are not selling. The idea actually came because my dad is trying to sell his house and I read on line about doing a house raffle and was wondering if the idea could be used for boats. As I stated before I am not upside down on the value of the boat, but I don't know for how long that will be and I thought this could bring relief to all boaters.

Hopefully I wouldn't have a problem finding 200 people intersted in that make or model!
That's her and I have a mild to perhaps severe obsession with her. My wife says shes ok with it if I can convince her to go out on my boat.
That restraining order is not gonna hinder this deal is it? Go ahead and tell me now, 'cause I need to decide if I should ask for permission or seek forgiveness....
