This is something new to me. It looks pretty neat, and has been load tested to 10,000 lbs.

http://www.epcomarineproducts.com/snapper/features.html

* One person can catch or release from the boat
* Electronically activated latching device, no need to wade
into the water
* Remote controlled from as far away as 50 feet.

You still need someone to back the trailer in and drive it out, but it does seem interesting.

Pardon if this has already been posted.

Did you watch the video? The bow hook on the boat is very long. I wonder if that is necessary with the unit?

Neat idea...but not sure how practical. When I load my boat, I need to let out about 4' of winch strap and crank it up to the bow stop. This contraption needs you to be able to drive the boat all the way to the stop. If I did that...the trailer would be so far away from the bottom of the boat that there is no way it would load straight.

It does appear to be best for "ideal" power loading conditions. With the ramp, trailer and vehicle in the best possible position.

Still a neat idea that might work for some.

I do agree...at the right angle ramp I think it could work nicely.

The installation instructions do talk about installing an extended bow eye (included with kit)

It would work very well with our boat. But I almost never take it out solo. So no need here. Cool idea though!

Well wait a minute....

If you are solo, what is the point? I mean, you're going to have to get out over the bow anyway and get into your vehicle somehow, right???

I can't see a skipper thinking, wow, that was cool, and just sitting there in the boat waiting for the truck to pull him out by itself.

Oops, Capn, read the bottom of your post and you already covered that...

Kind of a neat idea...why didn't I think of that first???? frown

I used my bowrider solo most of the time. When putting the boat on the trailer I'd unroll about 1' of the nylon strap for the bow hook, gently drive the boat up to the stops, leave it in gear at idle, walk foward to clip the bow hook, then shut the boat off.

I made sure I parked the trailer close enough to dock that I could step off the boat onto the dock. I never had to go in the water when loading or unloading the boat.

This is the OEM of the one Bank posted.

There's also a video/demo.

Gee what a wonderful idea. . . automate the least difficult part of the process, hooking to the winch. If you get the boat that far onto the trailer, as is shown in the demo, you could walk up to the bow, reach down and connect the winch strap. No additional equipment needed.

Then there would be more money left for beer. laugh

When I read the thread title, I was hoping to see a remote control for the boat. It would aid in launching, and used for skiing when no one else wants to go out....
