I've looked but cannot tell from inside the boat. I need to have someone outside the boat look for me while at speed.

I would think that the Crownline would befairly quick to plane as well as the Moomba and Mastercraft. Those three appear to have the flattest deadrise at the transom.

Hydrodynamics can be tricky though so it is possible that one of the other hulls have more running surface behind the drive. That would help alot with getting up.

Nice question Seabuddy, I can see advantages to each shape. The ones I mentioned also look like the worst ride in a chop. Without seeing the other end it would be hard to tell what the ride would be like overall.

The guy across from me bought a tournament ski boat as his first boat because he thought it looked cool. He admitted to me that after he bought it he found it rode so darn hard in any kind of chop that they can't use it on the weekends when there's lots of boat traffic.

Essentially they have a boat they can only use when nobody else is on the water. They hate it but paid too much for it and can't get out of it without serious financial injury.

I prefer a blend of both. But I'm bias. smile

Hard to tell here but it has a 12" flat bottom in the middle.

Hey Phatboy, is that a condom on your drive? I bet it would go faster without it. funny

That flat bottom across the center section and at the transom is usually a "pad" or "pad bottom".

Well it can't have a condom and a pad at the same time.

Seriously thanks for the info Seabuddy. Having a pad bottom helps getting up on plane and easier to push while underway I imagine.

Yes, in general, flat is faster than vee, but it rides harder. Of Course, there is alot more to it, too.
