to the land of the pines,
I'm thumbin' my way down to North Caroline,
Starin' at the road,
And pray to God I see head lights....

OK, I'm driving, not hitchhiking to Asheville, NC this morning for a few days. My father bought a house there and is moving in about a month. I'm going to help do a few things to the house before he moves in.

Anyway, you all have a nice and safe Holiday!

Be sure to visit the Biltmore House while there. We have never been and keep trying to make a trip there.

You are going to have to go further east to see the pines. laugh I love Asheville, enjoy.

.... I made it down the coast in seventeen hours,
Pickin' me a bouquet of dogwood flowers,
And I'm a-hopin' for Raleigh,
I can see my baby tonight...

More like 11.5 hours, I didn't stop for flowers, and I'm not really prepared to start callin' my father "baby."

Saturday messin' around:

Ate breakfast on a rock in the middle of this:

Walked to the top of Chimney rock:

Lake Lure from the top of Chim. Rock- kinda hazy:

Early Sunday morning on the way home:

690 miles later:

Also spent a little time on the Blue Ridge Parkway. For you motorcycle guys, if you ever get a chance to ride the Parkway, I think that would be the best way to see it and worth every penny spent, IMO.

I love your Rolodex!

If it was a chimney, how did you "walk" to the top of it???

I'd love to take our 5'er (or a smaller one if just 2 of us) on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It sounds like the Great Loop cruise of the RV'ing world.

And, I don't think you'd find many dogwood blooms right now...
