Can anybody report on the speeds observed on the NJ Turnpike? When I was commuting on that roadway, setting the cruise control at 80 mph kept me 'safe' from the staties, and up with traffic, but by no means 'blowing by' it. I wonder if that speedway has reacted yet?

I was on it a couple of weeks ago; average speed has dropped, IMO. same with 84 in CT. Did note some triple digit speeds on the south end of the Merritt Parkway.
You can still get run over on any of the big bridges around here unless you are in the 70+ range (the one I travel everyday is 55 mph limit), but thats just commuters not long haulers. I will be driving to Miami next week to hop a cruise ship, I will pay attention on the trip, we will be crossing the state on alligator alley, which is an infamous speedway.
Oh, by the way, I go with the flow.

I just went to Hartford and back this morning on 84. Speed has dropped. It used to be from exit 70 to the Mass Pike, cars flew. I was one of the fastest at 72 today.

Speeds were definately down in I55 in Illinois, Missouri, and Arkansas. At 72 in a 70 zone all through MO, I was only passed by a handful of cars (and one semi).

I don't know if it was because it was a Sunday afteroon, or that gas was $3.69 at a couple of places in MO ( it was on Thursday as well) but traffic was its normal speeds on the way home. I ran 72mph in a 70 zone and had plenty of vehicles pass me. Not very many slow people at all. (Oh and my Impala got 31.5mpg from Memphis to Lincoln, IL with the A/C blasted, quite bit of weight in it, and pulling all those hills in MO. Great cars, I tell ya!)

Nope, but the Brazillian ones that build the motor and the Canadian ones that built the car must have followed a very good American engineer that designed the car!
