Sounds good, but what'ts the price of their 30'er? I'm just guessing but I'd say it's well over $200K. Kinda puts the discount in a different light.

I watched a 54' Westbay get a $150K discount out here. The boat sold within a month. Now THAT discount got someone's attention.

When they can play games with the (so-called) MSRP or "list" price, why not (supposedly) knock off 16K from the price???

Who's gonna be able to know the difference?

Kind of like walking into a dealership and telling the salesmen that you need to get "X" amount for your trade.

You'll get it alright...

^^^^^^^

Oh you'll still "get it".

They just add the "over-allowance" on to the new vehicle/boat price...

Anything to make you "happy"! wink

I am under the impression that the Boat Builder Factory needs to stick with the price they first put on a boat when it left the front gate. That is not to say that a dealer is bound by the same thing.

True, seabuddy, but since price stickers on boats are not federally regulated like price (Monroney) stickers on cars, the mfg can play with them all they want.

For instance, a boat mfg might add $16,000 to the price of the boat as a fuel/manufacturing surcharge, then discount it by the same $16,000.

Its my understanding that that's not the boat mfg. Look to the dealer.

Yeah, as much as I am against more gov't involvement in our lives, I would vote for the Monroney sticker regulations for both the marine and RV industry in a heartbeat!

At least by being forced to post an ACTUAL MSRP on the hull, even a timid consumer at least has a decent chance of not being laid away by snakey dealers.

If a buyer then gets his head ripped off by other sales tactics, then it's his own fault.

W/O mandatory MSRP's, dealers are free to play all the games with the numbers that they want.

And they do...

Ask to see the boat invoice at the dealership with his costs blocked off to hide his private business--- maybe.

^^^^^^

That's how I have purchased my last three boats and my motorhome.

From the invoice, up...

I'm not into sales games. I deal direct with mgmt and write a check to show that I am ready to buy THAT DAY.

Works for me!
