Although we loathe planning a boating trip on a holiday weekend, looks like we will make an attempt to take her out for the first time this year on July 4th weekend.
A friend has a house rented at the big bend of the Colorado river, just south of Bullhead / Laughlin area. This is very close to our vacation home. So we'll go out to meet up with them.
The river is too shallow for my boat where the rental house is, so we will be boating down river (south of needles as always), during the day and spending the evening hours with them.

We'll be out on the 4th, but probably not until about 8:00 p.m. We usually anchor to watch the fireworks. After they're over it's a rat race to see who can get back to their trailer first. We usually stay anchored for 30-45 minutes until most of the boats have departed, then we'll cruise back to the slip.

Hey HF, We will be there as well, just a little further south. We are staying at Havasu landing on Lake Havasu, and usually make our way up river as far as Mohave park or Needles. We will be there 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th.

Havasu Landing is on CA side, right?
Where is Mohave Park?... Do you mean Moabi?
We will be launching at Needles and heading south to Havasu. We useally take a route thru the channel and then by Copper Canyon. And try to find a cove big enough and not too crowded, to pull the kids around.

oops, I think it is Moabi Park. We will make a run up to needles then back down to find a cove as well. We have two boys 9 and 4, so safety is our first concern. What kind of boat will you be in? Do you have a VHF or FRS radio?

Yup, carry a VHF and monitor ch16. You can hail for Hockey Family or Chris.
We have a Black/White Monterey 21'. And my buddy said he just got a ski/wake boat, so he should be with us. I'll have wife, 14yr old daughter and two of her friends onboard.
Our typical routine is to launch at Needles before 10am, head down river, maybe pulling the kids if they want to get in the water. Then cruise threw london bridge, then head to a cove that is just north of Copper Canyon. It's useally a good spot to play around in and pull the kids away from too much traffic. Do you have gps? I'll find the coordinates and send you a PM with my cell number as well.
I'm pretty sure we'll be on the water on the 4th, and maybe the 5th as well.

Yes, I have a GPS and I received the coordinates. I have a Brown and tan Blue Water open bow. We will be on the water Thursday afternoon, Friday, and Saturday. I will look for you, and try you on the radio or cell.
