Some interesting statistics in this article. And if you can tell me how to make this a clickable link I woul appreciate it. I don't know why this news site comes up this way, never had trouble before. http://q13.trb.com/news/kcpq-070408-coatguardboating,0,1544151.story

Thanks SB! What am I doing wrong? I have only started being more active lately, since I am still working 70 hours a week, so is it possible that one of my settings got changed when they did the site overhaul or is it something to do with that news site?

just in this past year possessing alcohol on the beaches here in SanDiego county is no longer legal ...

(and the police have handheld wands that sniff for booze so pouring it in gatoraide bottle don't work)
... and there has been a grassroots effort to get a big multiple 'kayak/raft paddle-out and tie-up with booze' out in the water just off shore at the beaches where theoretically it is still legal to drink booze, for this weekend's festivities,

but our city attorney has proclaimed that this is just an obvious circumvention of our beach's no-booze law and has ordered tickets to be given.
Now if you have a real boat out there in that same general area it is still legal to drink.
Go figure.
These tickets will probably be tested in courts of law. (?)

I will say, that even though i will still drink a beer, 1 usually, while boating, that it no longer seems that fun to me while in this crowded area. That is partially because of what i have read from some of the people from this site. thumb
I am still a rowdy guy perhaps, but approach boating a lot more cautiously.

Normally you can just paste the link in, but this one did not work that way. So, I went to the "full reply" screen where you can use the ubttons on the top to put the link in. It's the button next to the smiley button. You paste the link in, hit ok and the nyou can name the link.

Interesting stats. 90% of boating fatalities are from drowning with 90% of those not wearing PFDs.

44% of fatalities on open boats,(no cabin), 24% personal watercraft, and three out of four drownings occur on boats less than 21'. Do you think it is because these boats are more dangerous or because they are more likely to be purchased by new boaters?

I think it is the later. New boat owners that don't know the dangers of boating and don't take time to learn.

I understand the no alcohol deal on the beaches. not that I wouldn't like to bring sa few beers, but there are far too many A. H.'s out there who can't handle their booze and can;t understand the concept of moderation. Not only that, but I'm sure it cuts down on the number of DUI's out there. It's too bad that the few totally inconvenience the many.

I think that only sites that start with www... will create a link when pasted in. Admin any comments on that?
