Never get out of the boat

Check out the trees while we were launching. (and the total lack of other boaters!)

Our boat's name is "Soft Wind".
Right, like that's ever gonna happen! laugh

"Soft Wind" has never really stuck with us. We've talked about changing her name from the first day we saw her.

We've kicked several names around, or more accurately, I'VE kicked several names around, as I need to get the admiral's reaction. She needs to be happy with it...

Some of the names--

Crystal Blue Persuasion
--- admiral likes it, but it's a bit long, and not unique as far as boat names go...

Steel Breeze
--- I like it, old '80s band, but the name refers to "wind"....

Steel Heart or Steel R Heart
--- nah...

Big Baby (and name the Bayliner "Little Baby")
--- we both like these names, but still--they just don't "stick"...

Blue Purr
--- I found this name on the CG registry, and I LOVE it! the admiral likes it too! Not sure everyone would get it wink... and it was our favorite name, until....

One day not long ago, I'm messing around the boat, I forget what exactly but I must've been smiling, because the wife happens by, stops, and SHE smiles....

"What?" I ask...

"You're in 7th heaven, aren't you?"

"Oh, I'm way past 7th heaven, I'm at least in 8th heaven!"

------and there ya go------

8th Heaven

The admiral has been refering to me AND the boat as "8th Heaven" ever since! I think it stuck!
smile

I only need to decide if I'm going use the numeral, or spell it out as Eighth Heaven... If anyone has a reason why one or the other is better, I'm all ears!

And no matter where we may be floating or what we may be doing in our 8th Heaven, I'll pretty sure I'll always be frantically relaxing!

How about "Foul Wind" or "Stiff Breeze"?

Since 7th Heaven is always with a 7. I vote for 8th Heaven. Simpler and has a direct connection with what you mean when used with a number. One level higher of a state of great joy and satisfaction.

I think you answered your own question right there. thumb

Sounds like “Eighth Heaven” is it.

Since you asked, I like this ... or some variations of it.

Relaxing Persuasion
????

BTW, nothing wrong with keeping the original name either...
As tongue-in-cheek as Frantically Relaxing is... Soft Winds is the same grin

If you are into the Tommy James and the Shondells titles, how about Mony,Mony or Draggin' the Line ? cool

Exactly why we will never name our boat, nothing sounds appropriate. The thing that always bothers me, people come up with these long expressions, song names, lyric's or try to match the name with boat color, area,or occupation. What's stupid is, try saying some of these over the VHF when you are hailing them. Keep it short and simple if you have to name a boat. Four or less syllables prefferably.

Good Luck

Sure but long name is still better than "white boat here, hello?" over the VHF.

"white boat here, hello?" Have never even thought of that, let alone actually calling out for something that way.

8th Heaven. looks good, but might sound like "ain't heaven" on a bad radio.

How I sound on the radio is the last thing I have to worry about--at least, until I move this thing back to Powell!

so don't spell it---I agree!

-- 8th Heaven --

FWIW, I remembered a couple other names that crossed my mind...

B'Lunatic Fringe --gets the "blue" in there, the rest explains the reasoning behind whoever thought of putting a houseboat on this lake...(actually, the admiral hasn't heard this one yet, but I know her well enough... wink )

19th Nervous Breakdown --speaking of song titles... this is our 9th boat, the other 10--because we have kids!
