Chicago woman killed in Wisconsin boat accident

Associated Press
5:35 PM CDT, June 29, 2008

WILLIAMS BAY, Wis. - Authorities in Wisconsin have identified a Chicago woman as the victim of a deadly boating accident on Geneva Lake.

Walworth County officials said Sunday that 28-year-old Christina Ann Tully of Chicago fell off her wakeboard Saturday about 2 p.m. and was waiting for her boat to pick her up.

As a second boat passed nearby its propellor struck Tully.

The 64-year-old driver of the other boat said he didn't see Tully, who is originally from Winter Garden, Florida.

Authorities say neither boat driver had been drinking, and no charges are expected.

Police say a storm was approaching at the time and waves were at least two to three feet high.

Similar incident at Brookville this weekend but fortunately not a fatality. Not sure of any further details to distinguish it from the above other than it was a tuber.

That one could really be classified as an "accident". The one in our area where the boater was killed was easily preventable and IMHO was not an "accident".

This incident is sad all the way around. Everybody suffers in this case.

I was up there when the storm hit, albiet piloting my land-based cruise missle.

That weather changed FAST. It went from gorgoues and 75 to cold, blowing, and rain inside of maybe 10 minutes. Were I out there, I would have been caught up in the change myself.
