Just downloaded it and fired it up.

My old FF browser was getting boggy, took awhile to load sometimes.

The new one is FAST! Hope it doesn't get boggy. Maybe I just need to reload every now and then.

Some of my add-on weren't available for 3.0 but most were. Also downloaded FoxMarks. It stores your bookmarks and does backups for you. You can access your bookmarks from an PC that way. Kind of nice and nothing new I'm sure but I like it.

I like the weather toolbar offered and PicLens has some great reviews but I've yet to use it. It supposedly gives a 3D effect to photos posted at popular photo and community sites.

Also I got rid of ZoneAlarm firewall and installed Comodo. It seems to work pretty well. It had much higher scores then the other product.

Coworker said FF folks were encouraging downloads one day last to break Guinness World Record for most downloads in one day. Wonder if they did?

I installed it, thought it was better than FF 2.0, but I went back to using Safari 2.0.

Safari is also available for windows. I urge anyone to find a faster, more stable browser, that requires very little resources. Safari uses about 1/2 the resources on my Apple as what FF 2.0 did.

Does this Comodo also provide a firewall against spyware? Or is it just AV?

Firewall Ratings

This is the rating site that convinced me to switch. There is a lot of info on how they test.

Interesting. Wish they had also done a survey on customizing. A disappointment with Spybot has been that it is kind of all-or-nothing. Does not make it easy to set different levels or flavors of security. ZoneAlarm much better than Spybot in that regard.

Thanks for the tip, I downloaded it and it does seem much faster than 2.x was.

I remember there were some settings you have to tweak to make 2.x faster on the page loads. Look for the same in 3.0 or just leave it alone?

Did they fix the security problems in 3.0? I read where they were having an issue with some of the code/security..
I have 2.x FF and love it. I was hesitant to dl 3 for the security issues.

Been useing the beta version for about 2 months, before the offical 3.0 came out. Not much difference between the beta and 3.0. No complaints so far.

I've been using FF 3.0 for a few weeks and it's been great.

Go Faster Daddy!!
Troop,

The above link will take you to a place where they tell you how to tweak Firefox. If the descriptions are the same I don't see why you can't tweak it some more.

Even faster, Daddy!

The above link takes you to a utility that will automatically set you FireFox parameters up for faster response. You have to tell it if your PC if fast or slow and what sort of connection you have. It gives a place where you can check your speed before and after the tweaks and it prompts you to make a backup FireFox config file in case there is a problem.

I had my browser souped up already so it only cut down my speed by maybe 10%. If you have not done any tweaks it should work even better.

I have to tell you I am not a fan of FireFox 3.0. I used FireFox 2.0 as my primary browser and upgraded when the new version came out. I find it slower and taking up more memory than the old one. Just today I had three tabs open on different web pages. My computer was thrashing so I looked in task manager. FireFox 3.0 was using almost 400MB of RAM and was very slow to respond. I finally had to kill it via the task manager.

I finally downloaded 3.0... I'm experiencing what jjct is. Slow, boggy, huge memory sucker, and erratic behavior within hotmail. So far, I'm not impressed... maybe fasterdaddy will help...
