cadorette holiday 210 1989, mercruiser 4.3 Lx first I have gimbal ring fixe i had loose in the upper shaft , so everything was a part so i decide to replace the bearing , use slide hammer and drive tool to put back in , i bot align tool able to put inside but not the drive stuck at 1 1/2'' before end
The Gimbal bearing may be in backwards and it is not going in all the way. There is a round indentation on the outer flange and that should be pointing to the engine, not visible from the drive.
Check that the gimbal is installed properly, otherwise the drive will not go in all the way as you described.
Also, another possibility is that the alignment tool did not go all the way into the coupler. The alignment tool can be used to adjust the angle of the gimbal bearing slightly to gain better alignment.

ok so you are telling me maybe the bearing is install wrong side , i slightly move the bearing and tool went in correctly ,if i remove the bearing i have to get new one
Maybe it's just the splines on the input shaft that are not aligned with the splines on the coupler. I find that happens sometimes when I refit my VP drive and when it happens, the 1 1/2" gap sound about what I have.
Try putting the drive in gear and turning the prop shaft slightly, so the input shaft turns.
