No, there are no Toyota marine engines. The thread started with an engine, a marine purpose engine, with special components that allow the use of VVT technology. If you want to discuss the benefits this engine has, the discussion of VVT will come up, and you need a basis of discussion. There aren't too many marine engines utilizing VVT technology so engines in general will be compared. When analyzing a specific technology, I guess to me it doesn't matter if the engine is made for marine or land use. We aren't discussing the engine, we are discussing the technology. If you want to discuss this particular engine and its technology only, the thread would be pretty short as there isn't much information provided in concerns to this particular design.
I am not trying to be disrespectful in any manner here, but this thread is just meandering around with no definite discussion point. Are we discussing this particular engine and its capabilities and why it has these capabilities, or are we discussing the 502 and its capabilities? I think discussing the 502 in this thread is rather unrelated as the only thing it has in common with the original engine brough forth is the power rating. Using the 502 seems somewhat moot as it will also be unavailable in the near future.
