For a Gen 1 434SBC, I probably wouldn't use a GM block anyway -- I'd go aftermarket. Run a Dart Little M probably.

Do they have a 4.125 bore? I don't know much about the little Dart blocks.

As for seabuddy's engine posting, i would like to learn more about thier offering.

Probably cheaper to build an SC engine.

Since when did 550hp become the standard BB replacement? Compare this bad boy with a Merc 525. I think they're close on cost? Seabuddy?

Let's stay with marine engines within the marine engines, drives, and props heading.

From the same old price list, $48,498 for an engine ( 525 Hp) and drive (XR).

You're fine. Just wanted to make sure I wasnt the one who was drifting. I often have the tendency to do that.

How much extra is this small block going to cost WITH a drive over the 525 Merc

Pretty sure the thread is named, "Big Block replacement in a small package". Nothing about racing big blocks nor specifically the 525.

Sorry for the diversion, seabuddy. But when you bring up marine power, you will get some drift as there are little to no engines made directly from marine only parts. i think f14's and my conversation was simply in comparison of available suitable replacements and to why this engine needed such specialty pieces to create its power. This unit really falls into a specific market, nothing that will make it to the large volume production scale for a big block replacement. My opinion, take it for what it is worth.

550hp isn't standard BB power. It's not even HO 496 power. Its BBY that.

That's why I feel its cost should be compared to similar performing machines. Emphasis on weight savings (I assume) or packing size requirements.
