Just picked up a used 2001 Yamaha LS2000. The boat looks great and seems to run great. On the maiden voyage my wife and I took it out for a couple of hours up and down the river. When I pulled it out of the water there was quite a bit of water in the bilge and a little in the engine compartment. I relaized that I didn't have the bilge switch on but thought it would be automatic anywhere so no big deal.
Today I took it out with my wife, daughter and her boyfriend. About 5 minutes from the dock , one of the transom impeller cleanout plugs popped out, opened the back hatch and almost hit my wife in the head. No big deal, I must have not put it in all the way. I popped it back in and we were under way again. Shortly after the boat began to porpose like crazy and as I slowed the engines stalled and a huge wave came over the transom, The boat was full of water, the engine compatment was half full so I beached it because I thought we were going to sink. I let the bilge get caught up for a bit and then I headed back to the dock.
I pulled it out of the water and pulled all of the plugs and let it drain. I then put the plugs back in and dropped it back in the water. Almost immediately the bilge started pushing out water and would kick off for about 5 to 10 seconds and then kick back on.
So I'm taking on water but it's not from the plug. Everything looks alright around the jets and I didn't see any hoses leaking in the engine compartment. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dave
