Update #1

I repaired the insulation on the wire that was chaffed using liquid electrical tape. I modified the plug a little that goes into the ECU so the pressure points were relieved and wrapped the wires with the spiral wire loom for some extra protection.

Update #2
I thought one spark plug was loose. ALL 8 spark plugs were loose. I can't be absolutely, positively, 100% sure that the shop did not tighten the plugs down correctly. I don't remember pulling the plugs when I winterized and I am 99.99999% sure I did not, but without being sure it's hard to place blame. So, all the brand new plugs came out and 8 brand new ones went in. This time AC-Delco 41-983 gapped to .060 and torqued to 22 ftlbs with a stop at 11 ftlbs.

I have a feeling my problems are going to be gone the next time I fire the boat up.

Glad to hear it. I have never had a plug back out but have heard of it. I have changed alot of plugs and the only issue I ever had was a broken insulater.

One I could understand, but 8 tells me something wasn't done right.

I'm just glad the boat only got a few hours with the loose plugs. That will teach me to recheck them more often.

If it were me, I would be ordering a new set of wires soon. They are super-sensitive pieces of equipment.

Glad things are looking up for you!

I'm assuming you are talking about the wiring harness. A mere $700 for a new one. That will have to wait until I see if there are going to be problems.

If you were talking about plug wires, that will be $400.

I'll know on Thursday how she is doing.

Ah, yes the $400 8.1 "marine" spark plug wires. Haven't we discussed that before?
