Yep. His extended family had a benefit for him last friday nite. A meal, silent auction, live auction, etc, to help with the uncovered medical expenses that will easily go into the 6 figures. The pic was on our bidders number card.
Why in a country with the resources that we have is the family trying to come up with a 6 figure medical bill?
Because that's what they are being charged.
Cool boat Todd. You know a longer waterline with the same beam makes a boat faster, right? (I just got that lesson on Monday, so it was too late to help you).
Primordial dwarfism appears to be what he has. Very rare indeed, and there is a special on TLC or Discovery about 6 children in the US that have it.

WOW, that actually does work. How'd you reinforce the bottom of that thing?
I started with a piece of carboard roughly 32" x 7', about 1 1/2" thick. I then glued on some other large box bottoms that were about 4" thick. I tried to give it some shape with a sawzall. After tying in the sides to the floor, the bottom was roughly 8" thick and very solid. Contact cement was used to glue the cardboard together. If you follow the directions, it isn't coming apart. A combination of duct tape, packing tape and contact cement kept the water out of the boat.
I quickly scanned thru the thread. One of the popular designs at one of the events on our lake is to duct tape together large waxed juice boxes. Some of the boats had ~20 or ~30 taped together in a catamaran style boat. Unsinkable and fairly quick.
