20.8 gallons, $82.16 yesterday.

Topped off the boat last weekend, 43 gallons, $170 and change, midgrade. First time ever I haven't put premium in the boat.

Put $123.00 in my truck yesterday. It's a good thing my job pays for the gas in my truck!

Put $163.00, 35 gallons in the boat last week. Think I can get the job to pay for that?

Still haven't gotten out yet. ouch

Due to fill the BMW up today though, stay tuned. Put 10 gallons in the Corvette Thursday night, at $4.29/gal. I actually think the price went DOWN. bug_eyes

More than it should be. I don't have the receipts, but $4.90-$5.05 for diesel and 4.60-4.80 for premium.

Diesel got 25 gallons on Sunday, Boat got 11 gallons on Saturday, Subaru got 12 gallons on Tuesday and the admiral filled her car as well.

I went for 1/2 a tank in my boat today . . . $200 shocked

Got gas at the station rather than the marina, else it would have been $250 . . .

BTW - did you know that most drivers can save 10-20% on gas by reducing their speed and modifying driving habits?

That would be like getting gas for $3.20 a gallon. . .

We were on vacation last week. Left home with 3/4 tank and $360 dollars and 860 miles, majority of which was towing 5'er, later I have about 3/8 tank. I'm not sure if it is the ULSD or extra weight from hauling 5 bikes, clothes, food, etc for the whole week or driving in 90+ degree heat but I only average about 10.5 mpg towing. I usually get 12-13mpg.

After 5 nights Destin FL, we came home grabbed the Durango and boat and went to lake for 3 nights. There went another $110 in the boat and $50 in Durango.

My milage has dropped about 10% or so since the introduction of the ULSD. Compound that with the fact that diesel has gone up something like 40% in the last year and that's a hit of a more than 100% increase (or doubling of cost) to drive the truck.

Last fill-up for the truck was something like $178 and the boat was $142. I've put on 10 hours since that fill-up and it is thirsty again... The burn rate is pretty high doing water sports; something like 3gph

3gph? That's heavy? That seems light. I'm around 10-12gph doing watersports.

2-strokes can be thirsty I guess. Way more than I thought. :-(

And, why does ULSD decrease your mileage. That doesn't make sense?

The only difference with USLD is the sulpher content. Everything else is the same. I can check tomorrow with the lab.

Please do! This is the first I have heard non ULSD trucks getting worse mileage with ULSD. Always interesting concepts that come up...

I've heard/read varying stories about ULSD having reduced BTU's per gallon. I found the following on Exxon's web site. Other things I've read range in 3% to 7% loss.

Quote:

Will ULSD affect the fuel economy of existing diesel cars, trucks and non-road engines and equipment?
Theoretically, fuel economy may be reduced slightly (about 1%) because the refining process that removes sulfur also can reduce the energy content of the fuel.

Filled up the boat yesterday before heading out to Lake Tahoe:

15.3 gallons/$65

It would have definitely cost me over triple-digits if I topped off my truck....

Okay, maybe I just blamed it on that, but at the same time that switch over came about, my commute went from 12 miles on the freeway to 4.2 miles on city streets and my milage went down. It is probably that as much as anything else. Towing, my milage has gone down a bit but that may also be due to not getting out on the highway for a long tow but rather towing close with more stop and go with less highway in between. So maybe it was just a coinkidink.

Let's see... I have about 10 hours on the boat so far this year and have burned through at least 3/4 of a 40 gallon tank. I forget, but maybe I filled up a half tank at the begining of the year and am now down to ¼ tank... So maybe it is ½ tank and 3/4 tank so that is actually 5/4 tank or 50 gallons for 10 hours... But 5gph is still better than 11gph. I remember that the PartyBarge with the 115 HP oil injected Evinrude burned that 10gph and had a top speed of a whopping 18mph.

Halfway through my 8 day excursion on The Lake d we pulled the boat to top off. 53 Gallons later my wallet was $229.00 lighter (or more accurately my american express was $229.00 heavier c. But we saved $59 by not filling on the water.
One of my chores today is to top off the boat tank This one will probably run closer to 60 gallons.
EDIT: Just got back and I was off by 1 gallon. It only took 58.96 gallons for a hit of 230.49. Just think of all the rebate money I'm getting back from American Express to spend at Costco next year.

The truck took $429 in diesel for the 830 mile round trip.

On my way home I can often only see the last digit of the gas price sign (this station is the highest in the area). In the morning the digit was 2 and at night it was 7 and thought cr@p. I then peaked my head over some more and saw that digit to the left of the 7 was 0 and not 1 as it was in the morning. Gas went down a nickel.
